5 THE ORC CYCLE HOW IT WORKS The ORC turbogenerator uses medium-to-high-temperature thermal oil to preheat and vaporize a suitable organic working fluid in the evaporator (4>5). The organic fluid vapor rotates the turbine (5>6), which is directly coupled to the electric generator, resulting in clean, reliable electric power. The exhaust vapor flows through the regenerator (6>7), where it heats the organic liquid (2>3) and is then condensed in the condenser and cooled by the cooling circuit (7>8>1). The organic working fluid is then pumped (1>2) into the regenerator and evaporator, thus completing the closed-cycle operation. 5

8 TURBODEN ORC TECHNOLOGY - APPLICATIONS The Traditional Applications BIOMASS GEOTHERMAL HEAT RECOVERY OIL & GAS WASTE TO ENERGY SOLAR THERMAL POWER Turboden ORC technology harnesses heat to generate electric and thermal power from renewable sources and waste heat from industrial processes, waste incinerators, engines or gas turbines. Turboden ORC turbogenerators range from 600 kw to 20 MW electric per single shaft. The Innovative Application Steam & Power is the most innovative application of Turboden ORC System for High Temperature (400 C) Cogeneration with Steam production. 8

9 STEAM & POWER ORC A FIRST LOOK AT THE PRODUCT What it is Steam & Power ORC system is a new technological solution for Combined Heat & Power (CHP) generation for Industrial Processes. High temperature CHP production Steam & Power ORC system allows cogeneration of electricity and medium pressure steam, exploiting high temperature heat source, with a very high overall energy efficiency. STEAM & POWER The Innovation Principle The innovation principle of Steam & Power ORC system is the temperature level of the ORC cycle, which works at about 400 C 9
