8 Photovoltaics Our competencies in PV: In Alzenau, SCHOTT Solar runs the SmartSolarFab, Europe s largest fully integrated production site. The EFG method for wafer production is unique and internationally patented. It is one of the most environmentally friendly methods worldwide and needs a minimum energy input. 10 Receivers Our competencies: Even in the mid-eighties, SCHOTT delivered special glass tubes as cover tubes for the receivers of the first power plants. In 2004, SCHOTT introduced their PTR70 receiver into the market. Today, SCHOTT has become the technology leader for this key component.
