THIS IS PROMETEC Finnish technology company Established 2012 Expertise in biomass quality management Team with tens of years of experience in automation, process technology, product development and customer value creation Main products: Automated samplers and automated sample handling system and quality management expert services

VIDEOS ABOUT Q-ROBOT Video 1. Q-robot fully automated truck sampler Video 2. Sampling different materials Video 3. Q-Robot Efficiency Video 4. Automated sample benefit Video 5. Savings with Q-Robot Video 6. Reference Kuopion Energia Reference Case: Kuopion Energia White paper: Automated sampling

BENEFITS OF THE Q-ROBOT Representative samples randomly from each truck / train wagon load Transparent sampling procedure Total impartiality Cost savings from biomass Fuel receiving open 24/7 Q-Robot can handle several types of solid biomass Fast sampling sequence Automated sampling and sample handling brings cost savings from labor High quality products made in Finland

QUALITY CONTROL CURRENTLY SAMPLING QUALITY INFORMATION INFORMATION UTILIZING Manually from the top of the load or during/after unloading Hard to get representative samples from each load. Truck -specific moisture and energy content information or information from the combined samples after 1-2 days Error in caloric value because of manual sampling (Energy balance error) Unreliable moisture information for the logistic and process management or for the supply chain

THE PROBLEM The biggest problem in solid biofuel quality management is sampling* 80% of error is caused by wrongly taken samples 15% of error caused by sample handling 5% of error is caused by measurement *Järvinen, 2012, VTT-R *Stömberg&Svärd, 2012, Bränslehandboken, p. 32

*Järvinen, 2012, VTT-R *Stömberg&Svärd, 2012, Bränslehandboken, p. 32 FACT FIGURES From 3 rd party studies Error in fuel quality control leads to approximately* 2% 5% point error in moisture point energy error FUEL USE [GWh/ a] ENERGY ERROR [%] FUEL PRICE [ / MWh] COSTS [ / a] %

Q-LINK TM concept Q-ROBOT Representative samples taken automatically from each arriving truck / wagon before unloading QUALITY INFORMATION Automatically Pre-handled samples ready for laboratory analysis Real-time calculated moisture information and volume information available Integrated online moisture and particle size analyzer to Q- Robot (future plan) INFORMATION UTILIZING Payment based on actual delivered fuel energy content Logistical and combustion optimizing possible Calculated moisture information available in real-time for the whole supply chain available

Q-ROBOT TM Fully automated sampling Q-Robot can form a tuck specific or daily sample automatically Patented solution Q-Robot can be placed where ever it is logistically rational Representative samples from the each arriving truck / wagon before unloading Sampling sequence under 10 minutes with 6 samples Sampling follows closely standards EN ISO and EN ISO Q-Robot works with biomass, coal, concentrate and any granular material which particle size in under 100mm

Commercial use Ongoing project Q-ROBOTS IN OPERATION At Kuopion Energia power plant over 100 trucks per day are being sampled (1600 GWh/a) Proven to bring a major cost savings Fuel energy balance error is ~0% All biomass trucks goes through the sampler (Wood chips, forest residue, peat, saw dust and peat) At Napapiirin energia ja Vesi power plant in Rovaniemi about 40 trucks per day are being sampled (900 GWh/a) Reliability: Extreme conditions -25 degrees Celsius At Fortum Joensuu power plant all trucks delivering biomass are sampled daily trucks (800 GWh/a) New innovations: sampling hall and operational container 4th Q-Robot will be installed to Kajaani in April 2019 (800 GWh/a)

RESULTS Q-ROBOT In the chart below there is a comparison from 50 samples taken by Q-Robot and by truck driver. The moisture level in samples taken by Q-Robot is 3,5 percentage point higher compared to samples taken by drivers. The differences are the biggest in wood chips. Samples have been taken from Kuopion Energia Oy, Finland Samples taken by Q-Robot Samples taken by truck driver Difference Average moisture % Average moisture % Average moisture % All fuel types 45,8 42,3 3,5 Forest residue 42,5 37,2 5,3 Wood chips 41,5 40,2 1,3 Sawdust 56,6 55,8 0,8 Peat 50,8 47,8 3,0

RESULTS Q-ROBOT Comparison study from 21 samples taken by Q-Robot and by Prometec employee. The moisture level in samples taken by Q-Robot is 5,8 percentage point higher compared to samples taken from the top of the load by Prometec. This study was made at Napapiirin Energia ja Vesi power plant in January The site is located in Northern Finland. Manual sampling from the top of the load vs. Q-robot sampling Manual samples % Q-Robot samples % Difference %-units Moisture from all samples (average) 46,0 51,8 5,8 Moisture Wood chips (14) 44,2 49,8 5,6 Moisture forest residue (7) 49,6 55,8 6,2
