3 Northwest Ports Clean Air Strategy In 2007, we collaborated with Ports of Seattle and Tacoma, Environment Canada, Metro Vancouver and other agencies, to develop shared objectives for port air emissions reductions within the Puget Sound - Georgia Basin air shed. 2
4 Northwest Ports Clean Air Strategy The 2013 Northwest Ports Clean Air Strategy goals include: 75 % reduction in diesel particulate matter per tonne of cargo by 2015, and 80% by % reduction in greenhouse gases per tonne of cargo by 2015, and 15% by 2020 Detailed objectives are set for each activity sector, and progress reported annually 3

7 Non Road Diesel Emissions Initiative p o r t m e t r o v a n c o u v e r.c o m PMV has initiated a program to reduce diesel particulate matter (DPM) from non-road equipment operating on port lands. The NRDE initiative will reduce DPM emissions by: Phasing out high-emitting equipment Advancing idle reduction Promoting innovative clean technologies Consultation started in 2013 Program will become effective in

Share resources and leverage MV expertise and experience gained from the MV Bylaw No. 1161, 2012 Manage shared jurisdictional boundaries 7
9 Burrard Inlet Area Local Air Quality Study p o r t m e t r o v a n c o u v e r.c o m Multi phase project partnership, led by Metro Vancouver, to gain a better understanding of pollutants and impacts within the Burrard Inlet. Initial dispersion modelling conducted in 2008 Monitoring Program Results released
10 Burrard Inlet Area Local Air Quality Study - Follow Up p o r t m e t r o v a n c o u v e r.c o m PMV and MV are currently collaborating on: Additional Monitoring Two continuous monitoring stations and multiple passive sites in east Vancouver Updated Dispersion Modeling currently in progress to: Inform the review of SO 2 objectives 9
11 EcoAction for Ships We collaborate with industry to deliver a unique program that offers ships up to 47% discount on their harbour dues for reducing air emissions. Our Blue Circle Award recognizes leading participants. 10
12 Shore Power We collaborated with industry and government to be among the first ports to offer shore power facilities at the Canada Place Cruise Terminal. Since 2009, reduced 8,400 tonnes of greenhouse gases (CO 2 e) In 2013, reduced 91 tonnes of criteria air contaminants and 3,092 tonnes CO 2 e. 11
13 Sustainability Reporting We track and report on our sustainability performance using internationally recognized standards, such as Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Sustainability Reporting Guidelines.
