Municipalities: waste management properly and reduce amount of plastic waste to the downstream ocean. Indonesia is an archipelagic country with many small islands, the inter island waste management need to be improved with better waste pick up and floating waste disposal. NATIONAL LEVEL Change society paradigm to the plastic waste and respect the coastal areas. The cleanliness of the shore at the most our beautiful coastal areas for tourist destination Re coordinate agency who take care of upstream landfill related to plastic waste. Setup some pilot project as example on how to properly manage plastic waste from the industrial and household landfill to the waste management. 14 7

8 INTERNATIONAL LEVEL Action plans related to the transboundary marine debris over the sea, marine debris from sea transportation and international financial pfledge or fund raising. Setup pilot project among chosen municipality and for new and better waste management in other municipality. STRATEGIC PROGRAMS - NPOA INDUSTRIAL SECTOR Manufacturers of plastics and related products have to involve actively in the efforts of managing plastic wastes. Encourage these manufacturers to use recycled plastics as input materials as much as possible while at the same time producing more biodegradable plastics. Introduction of circular economy into the mix, with its reduce, reuse, recycle principles RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT The involvement of research institution and academia will change the course of future waste management in land and the off shore waste reduction. Change to new and efficient technology to cope with the problem. 10 CONCLUSION 1. Marine Plastic Debris is not a just Indonesian Issues BUT IT IS A WORLD ISSUES, therefore cooperation is a necessary 2. Indonesia has established a National Ocean Policy and proposed a NATIONAL PLAN OF ACTION on MARINE PLASTIC DEBRIS MANAGEMENT 3. Indonesia invites other countries to combat Marine Debris, especially on education campaign for young people and developing some pilot projects in IORA region (one country, one region) 4. Indonesia offers a joint research cooperation to track waste in Indian Ocean 19 Next activity on marine debris Implementation of plastic tar road technology in Bali (this year), Jakarta, and Labuan Bajo (East Nusa Tenggara) International symposium on marine plastic debris, 9 August 2017 in Makassar.
