3 PAT CYCLE-1 In PAT Cycle -1, 8 sectors covering 478 DC were given a target to achieve Mtoe (Million tonnes of Oil Equivalent) of energy reduction. Achievement of PAT Cycle-1: As per estimates, PAT Cycle -1 was successful and with DCs putting together a massive effort towards achievement of their targets Energy reduction Mtoe CO2 Mitigation Million tonne Page 2 of 10

4 PAT CYCLE-2 bicon How different is PAT Cycle 2 from PAT Cycle 1? Deepening of PAT (existing sectors) Energy consumption thresholds have been revised downwards, such that even industries, have lower energy consumption than large industries, now fall in PAT Cycle 2. Which means inclusion of more unit from existing sectors. A total of 89 DCs from various existing sectors like Iron & Steel, Pulp & Paper, Thermal Power Plant, Chlor-Alkali, Fertilizer, Aluminium and Textiles, are now in PAT Cycle 2. Widening of PAT (new sectors) New industry sectors have been brought under the ambit of PAT. The new sectors under the PAT Cycle 2 now include the following sectors and 84 DCs under them. 10 Conclusion: The success of PAT Cycle 1 has encouraged the regulators to extend the PAT Scheme with widening and deepening. Though Widening of next PAT Cycle will include two more sectors Petrochemicals, and commercial buildings. Page 9 of 10
