3 What is Waste Management? Every day we produce materials. The nature of our business will dictate the type of we produce. Waste Management is the effective, efficient and responsible disposal of our materials. The way we dispose of our has a direct impact on the environment. We all have a duty to protect our environment and is one way of doing this. Governments all over the world are also keen to honour our environment and impose strict guidelines, policies and laws on how we dispose of our. What does it mean to me? All must be disposed of responsibly and legally. As an individual we will be aware and will actively recycle as much of our products as possible. Regular trips to the bottle banks, kerbside paper collections, and household are ways in which we are all familiar with. All goods must be disposed of responsibly at some point and there are various regulations which govern the disposal of different types of. Our Services We can deal with all collection and disposal, whether it s a one off collection, regular disposal, large or small, chemical, clinical, hazardous. Electrical Waste Security On Site Machinery Legal & Compliance Garages Clinical General Waste Liquid Waste Recycling Incinerated Waste Laboratory Chemicals Aerosols Find out more about Waste Management:
4 Services Office and Factory Clearances: If you are moving or just clearing a specific area, we can help and because we specialise in moving hazardous and non-hazardous material we can clear sites fully, right the way through to compliance with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) with regards to all Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) and meet out any further legal requirements along the way. Electrical Waste: This includes such things as Batteries, Fridges, Flourescent Tubes and mixed electricals. Batteries come in a range of sizes from large car batteries to small batteries which power calculators, phones, cameras etc. These can include components such as lead acid, nickel cadmium (NiCD), nickel metal hydride, alkaline manganese, mercury, zinc, carbon, lithium, lithium ion and silver oxide. These must be segregated for special collection and in the main can be recycled. Fridges have harmful CFC s and must be disposed of safely. Flourescent Tubes and Bulbs are classed as hazardous owing to the glass and mercury contaminated phosphor powder and can no longer be disposed of in landfill sites. They can however be recycled to produce goods such as loft insulation etc. Liquid Waste: Liquid Waste includes things like Storage Tanks and Cesspits, Paint Waste, Oil Waste and Solvents. Our takers will bulk out liquid from interceptors and storage tanks and dmmission and remove tanks if required. We will also actively engage gully sucking and cesspit work. Although this work is sub contracted, we would manage the work throughout and be responsible for all legal documentation. Waste paint can range from tins with residual paint, thinners, rollers, brushes and paint sludges. Many paints include flammable solvents, harmful components and environmentally damaging heavy metals. Much of this can be recycled. Waste Oil can range from cooking oils, to heavy fuel oils, heating oils, diesel, engine oil, lubricating oil, hydraulic oil etc. These are a significant and damaging pollutant to the environment if not managed properly. Solvents can include harmful chemicals, paints, thinners, solvents based inks, alcohols, flammable resins, adhesives, chlorinated solvents (dichloromethane, etc) petrol, toluene. These are highly flammable and toxic and can be recycled to produce reclaimed fuel oil or biodiesel. Lab Chemicals: Exactly what it is, call us in and we will audit all chemicals requiring disposal, pack and repack to suitable containers and remove from site under full legal compliance. Aerosols: Although aerosols are no longer produced with the harmful CFC s they are still flammable propellants and harmful toxic products. This is why they have to be separated for disposal, many are also recycled. Clinical and Sharps: If you have a requirement for this service, we can also supply the containers you will need in order to store and subsequently have removed from site. Incinerated Waste: Some has to be incinerated by law and because of this you may have a requirement to incinerate part or all of your. We can advise and where necessary remove such to incineration.
5 Services Security: Need to dispose of confidential materials? We can arrange a secure collection and get it shredded, ensuring your confidentiality. These can include photographic fixers, plates and developers etc. On Site Machinery: Shredding, Compacting and Paint Crushers (Waste Collection Minimisation) Compactors can be a good source of on-site reduction but because of the cost implications you would need to quantify outgoing costs against new planned capital expenditure in order to ensure it is feasible, you only need this type of equipment if you have plenty of to reduce. Can crashers are exactly what they are and you would benefit greatly from this type of equipment, if you are disposing of a lot of cans. Legal & Compliance: Waste audits can be useful for drawing up comparative cost analysis and updating procedures right through to checking if the relevant permits, carrier or licences for incumbent firms, operators and disposal outlets are up-to-date. Waste Acceptance Criteria and Waste Acceptance Procedures are legal requirements aimed at producers who need to supply data on characteristics of the using periodic spot tests to evaluate leaching limits and impact on landfills. There are three bandings: Inert, Hazardous and non-hazardous. If you require support in any of these areas, please contact us and we will carry out the test on your behalf. Hazardous Waste Premises Registration: From 16th July 2005, it became a legal requirement for sites producing hazardous to notify the environment agency and register the business for a 3 alphanumeric / 3 numeric Premises Code. Some businesses may be exempt from being required to comply. If you are unsure of your status or would like us to act on your behalf please contact us and we will do the rest. Consultancy on Waste Management: It could be that you have too many types of stored in any one area of your compound and do not know where to start. We can arrange for one of our consultants and if need be, site chemist to arrange a visit where by a detailed, photographic report would be compiled outlining the legal aspects and obligations, the different types, cost and the most suitable course of action. MSD - Material Safety Data Sheets: If you produce, you have a legal obligation to supply Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) to the company receiving the. The MSDS offers relevant information such as storage, handling and transporting of substances. If you are not sure or can not locate the information sheets on your types of contact us and we will supply them. Garage & Service Stations: Dealing with the removal of all liquid, tanks, pipe works and contaminated soils up to fully compliant, certification of discharge of duty. Almost 100% of car and truck tyres can be recycled for a number of uses such as equestrian centres, playground and safe play surfaces, athletic track surfaces to name a few. We can collect and ensure that your tyres are disposed / recycled quickly and safely.
