1 4709 Hwy 36 South, Suite 10 Rosenberg, TX Phone: Use of Envirolyte O&G TM Neutral Anolyte Biocide in Cooling Towers Envirolyte O&G TM Neutral Anolyte Biocide: Is highly effective in treatment of cooling tower water to control microbiological growth, including biofilms on cooling surfaces and microbial counts in the cooling tower basin water. Completely eliminates all microbial contaminants including Legionella, Cryptosporidium and Algae. Is a 100% Green, Environmentally-Friendly Product that reverts back into its natural state as compounds and elements. The primary killing power in Anolyte and Neutral Anolyte is the Free Available Chlorine. Free Available Chlorine is chlorine that is present in the form of Hypochlorous Acid [HOCL] and Hypochlorite Ions [ClO-] -- or as Dissolved Elemental Chlorine that is available to react where needed. Hypochlorous Acid [HOCL] is the primary component in Envirolyte O&G TM Neutral Anolyte that produces the greatest killing power against micro-organisms as a stronger disinfecting and sanitizing agent than Chlorine, Chlorinated Water, Chlorine Dioxide or Ozone. While Hypochlorite Ions [ClO-] are also an active killing agent, Hypochlorous Acid [HOCL] is roughly 80 times more effective than Hypochlorite Ions in killing power, largely because HOCL has greater efficacy in penetrating microbial cells at the mitochondrial level with virtually 100% effectiveness in totally inactivating and destroying the entire cell -- membrane, body and DNA -- in preventing residual cells from mutating into a stronger form of micro-organism. 1
2 Some competitor electrolyzers produce Neutral Anolyte with only 350 to 500 parts per million [ppm] of Free Available Chlorine [FAC] -- versus 500 to 700 ppm of FAC with a standard Envirolyte system -- and up to 2500 ppm of FAC as a specially-designed Envirolyte system. Envirolyte O&G TM Neutral Anolyte has a shelf-life of over a year versus as little as days with competitor products. Enhanced disinfection and minimal impact on scaling and corrosion are among the benefits of using Envirolyte O&G TM Neutral Anolyte Biocide instead of oxidizing biocides such as chlorine or bromine for cooling tower maintenance. Envirolyte O&G TM Neutral Anolyte Biocide also prevents biofilm from forming throughout the cooling tower, eliminating the environment in which bacteria, algae, fungi, yeast, mold and other micro-organisms form and thrive in. Legionella, cryptosporidium and other heterotrophic bacteria particularly prevalent in cooling systems, are destroyed on contact both in water systems and in evaporation mist. Envirolyte O&G TM Neutral Anolyte Biocide provides Zero Biofilm, with no residual sodium chloride and acting as a mild corrosion inhibitor, insuring that no corrosion of pipework and other components occurs, thus extending maximum life-time operation of the cooling system. Cooling Tower system down-time is also reduced as draining and cleaning requirements are minimized, Envirolyte O&G TM Neutral Anolyte Biocide is generated On-Site As-Needed, eliminating the need for procurement, transportation, storage, mixing of chemical components, safeguard, reporting and disposal of controlled substances. See the attached: Microbiological Control Strategy in Cooling Tower Systems. Material Safety Data Sheet for Envirolyte ANK Neutral Anolyte. Envirolyte O&G TM Neutral Anolyte Biocide should be injected on a Continuous Feed Basis into the Cooling Tower, with the dosing ratio based on the degree of microbial contamination and the amount of Neutral Anolyte Biocide at the particular Free Available Chlorine Level that is required to kill all the prevailing micro-organisms. 2
3 The following is from Cooling towers water antialgae/ antibiofilm treatment Problems associated with cooling systems before treatment Scaling and corrosion of pipes caused by biological activity (biofilm and algae growth) Fouling of filling material caused by algae in cooling tower Frequent emptying of basins from sludge and bioactive material Poor heat transfer due to biofilm formation - loss of energy / money Usage of dangerous chemicals in case of algae growth prevention Generally high operating and maintenance costs No effective on-line biological activity control Typical Drawing of Envirolyte Unit Installation Positive effects after anolyte treatment of cooling system Elimination of biofilm and algae formation Increased heat transfer - lower energy loss Increased working time of cooling system Usage of ecologically friendly substances (Anolyte) Excellent dosing control trough Redox potential measurement / control Savings on energy 3
