This Environmental Metrics Report includes data on your product mix against dimensions of potential contributions to LEED, indoor air quality, BIFMA level certification and Cradle to Cradle certification. 6 LEED GREEN BUILDING COUNCIL CERTIFICATION CONTRIBUTIONS WHAT IS IT? Developed by the US Green Building Council, the LEED green building rating system is intended to provide building owners, operators and occupants a concise framework for measurable green building design, construction, operations, and maintenance solutions WHY IS THIS RELEVANT TO YOU? 7 INDOOR AIR QUALITY WHAT IS IT? We pursue industry-independent, third-party testing and indoor air quality certification for many of our products and materials through the Scientific Certification Systems (SCS) Indoor Advantage program: Demonstrates compliance to ANSI/BIFMA M7.1 & X7.1 criteria for low-emitting furniture Indoor Advantage Gold certification also demonstrates compliance to California 01350, ASHRAE 189.1, and Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) Criteria for furniture WHY IS THIS RELEVANT TO YOU? People spend as much as 90% of their time indoors, either at home, work, or school. SCS Certified furniture can help limit the amount of VOCs and other pollutants going into the air around you SCS Indoor Advantage Certified furniture may contribute towards points needed for the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED certification * Indoor Advantage is a trademark of SCS Global Services.

8 BIFMA level CERTIFICATION WHAT IS IT? The ANSI/BIFMA e3 Furniture Sustainability Standard was developed specifically for the contract furniture industry. It is a point-based system that spans: Social Responsibility Energy and Atmosphere Materials Human and Ecosystem Health Manufacturers earn points in these categories, and can certify their products at three different levels. WHY IS THIS RELEVANT TO YOU? This certification allows for an apples to apples comparison of products across the furniture industry The objective is to provide measurable, market-based definitions of progressively more sustainable furniture

9 CRADLE TO CRADLE WHAT IS IT? The Cradle to Cradle Certified program for products is a multi-attribute eco-label that evaluates a product across five categories of human and environmental health and continuous improvement: Material Health Material Reutilization Renewable Energy and Carbon Management Water Stewardship Social Fairness Steelcase offers more Cradle to Cradle Certified products than any other company in our industry globally. WHY IS THIS RELEVANT TO YOU? The Cradle to Cradle Certified program for products is internationally recognized across all industries The program provides guidelines to help businesses prefer products certified to the Cradle to Cradle Certified standard, which focuses on using materials that can optimize the above categories, as well as pursue the goal of continuous material cycles : materials that can be recycled as technical nutrients or composted as biological nutrients * Cradle to Cradle is a trademark of McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry, LLC ** Cradle to Cradle Certified is a certification mark licensed by the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute

10 RECYCLED AND RECYCLABLE CONTENT RECYCLED CONTENT Recycled content is the portion of a product that is made from materials that are diverted from the waste stream. There are two types of recycled content: PRE-CONSUMER: Materials that have not fulfilled a life in a product. This can be materials that are leftover in the manufacturing process that are diverted from the waste stream (e.g., recycling leftover trimmings from a fabric mill). POST-CONSUMER: Materials / products that have served their purpose to consumers and are waste to the end-user. These materials are to be repurposed or reprocessed to become a part in a new product. (i.e., steel that was recovered from a Think Chair at the end of its life). RECYCLABLE CONTENT The potential % or portion of the product that can be disassembled/broken down and reprocessed to avoid sending it to landfill or incineration.
