KLIMAAKTIV MOBIL IM BMLFUW Eco-friendly travelling to and from work and on business trips Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management (BMLFUW) 1
KLIMAAKTIV MOBIL IM BMLFUW specific features / goals: The department of mobility, traffic and noise is initiating projects and activities to support sustainable mobility since years and wants to set an example itself. The projects and activities are managed by the department itself in cooperation with the eco-friendly EMAS-Team. The lion s share of the personell (about employees) is ecologically highly sensitive and open to new ideas for more sustainable ways of personal moving and travelling. There is easy access by public transport and by bicycle (a dense net of bicycle paths) to all Viennese facilities of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management. 2
KLIMAAKTIV MOBIL IM BMLFUW specific features / goals: The key aspects of the project internal mobility are information, the raising of awareness and the provision of incentives or reliefs for cyclists (e.g. comfortable and secure bicycle parking racks) as well as appreciation and positive reinforcement of their eco-friendly behavior. This cost-effective project is seen as a prototype for other Federal Ministries and Administrations. Imitation is explicitly welcome. 3
INVOLVEMENT OF THE PERSONELL Survey among the employees about their patterns of personal movement and travelling to and from work (first time in 1997) Extended survey about personal mobility including the deduction of future activities in 2005 Modal split-survey in 2012 Questioning of the subordinated offices of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management (vocational schools, facilities for horticulture, avalanche protection, ) is intended to start in electric mobility, driving by railway & bus, bicycling, raising of awareness, environmentpreventing movement, going by foot, green jobs, fuel saving, stay fit and healthy, alternative engines, less traffic jams, more exercise, innovative traffic concepts, reduction of CO2 emissions, saving money, climate protection

CO 2 COMPENSATION OF BUSINESS TRIPS CO 2 emissions of all business trips have been compensated by the initiative Climate Austria since Since 2014 the RFI factor (Radiative Forcing Index) has to be considered for the compensation which led to a considerably higher need of compensation. The need of compensation in the year 2015 amounted to metric tons GWP (global warming potential) and was - with the help of four klimaaktiv mobil climate protection projects compensated in Austria. In the years 2008 to 2013 an average of 700 metric tons GWP was compensated each year (without the RFI factor). 18

PARTICIPATORY ARRANGEMENT OF A COURTYARD 21
93% USE ECO-MOBILITY Primarily used means of transport travelling to or from work: public transport bicycle by foot car as driver car as passenger Only 15% of the employees use a car occasionally or for one part of their way (P&R). Eco-mobility 22
NEXT STEPS Focus on electric vehicles and an e-vehicle network (2016) Monitors in the foyers which display information about the departure times of public transport nearby, environment-friendly alternatives in transportation and movement as well as content to raise the employees economic awareness Inclusion of all subordinated offices of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management throughout Austria, e.g. vocational schools, the Federal Garden Administration, the Forest Service of Torrent and avalanche control, (approx employees) Motivation of further Federal ministries and Administrations to a more environment- and climate-friendly management of personal mobility. Transfer of experiences to all interested institutions. 23
I WISH YOU SUCCESS WITH YOUR INITIATIVES! electric mobility, driving by railway & bus, bicycling, raising of awareness, environmentpreventing movement, going by foot, green jobs, fuel saving, stay fit and healthy, alternative engines, less traffic jams, more exercise, innovative traffic concepts, reduction of CO2 emissions, saving money, climate protection 24
The klimaaktiv mobil program is part of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management s climate protection initiative klimaaktiv. The klimaaktiv mobil program is an important initiator of eco-friendly mobility and makes valuable contributions towards reaching environmental and energy targets of Austria and the EU and implementing significant legal requirements and strategic programs. klimaaktiv mobil provides free advice and financial support to help businesses, fleet operators and property developers, as well as cities, municipalities, regions, tourism operators, schools and youth groups, to develop and implement mobility projects and transport initiatives that aim at reducing CO2 emissions. The key elements of the portfolio of support options offered by klimaaktiv mobil are the consulting programs and the klimaaktiv mobil funding program.
