19 CONCLUSIONS Each vessel is a different case: Shipowners need to assess all possible technical alternatives and carry out basic engineering studies for each case Lack of LNG bunkering services at ports: LNG dual fuel retrofitted vessels will actually end up consuming more fuel (e.g. up to 20% extra for ropax ships) Supplying LNG to ultra-peripheral regions: An additional complication for ships deployed in intra-insular services in Açores, Madeira and the Canary Islands Programmes and financial support to reduce uncertainty and operational risk are welcome, particularly for first movers Motorways of the Sea TEN-T Forum Environment 19
