17 Technical Press Release Climate under control New test chamber generation WT3 and WK3 - operation at the touch of a button Weiss Umwelttechnik GmbH - specialists for test devices and systems for environmental simulation presents the WT3 and WK3, a new generation of temperature and climate test chambers. The new, particularly sturdy and durable test chambers render climatic tests that are required for many products, more productive, more reliable, more convenient and easier to perform than their precedessors. Climate test chambers are employed in many branches of industry to ensure that products will stand up to the climatic conditions that prevail in all environments throughout the world. In the electronic industry, for example in consumer goods and telecommunication electronics are concerned and in the automotive industry, components and products are subject to numerous short-term and long-term tests in the test chambers that simulate the entire climatic spectrum of our planet. The operating philosophy of the new WK3 is to enable users to access operating and control functions as well as to provide manual access to processes quickly and conveniently all over the world. The standard WK3 is equipped with the large 12" TFT touch screen monitor for convenient and easy operation. Furthermore, the chambers are equipped with an illuminated CONTROLPAD* that permanently displays the current operating state and the operating parameters. Users thus have a clear view of all important processes and can complete their work just using their fingertips. The chamber is opened by simply touching the radio remote control. This also ensures that the chamber cannot be unlocked by unauthorized persons. Authorized users have access at all times to the current application via the integrated network interface and the webserver on the Internet and thus get the feeling that they are standing right in front of the unit. All operating masks have the same structure so that remote control or remote monitoring is both easy and quick. All data can be managed from a central point in the network or can be linked via the software S!MPATI* with other tests and be evaluated. The technical features of the new WK3 generation have also been optimised. Manufacturers place great importance on a high level of operational reliability and performance of their products. The WK3 is in the position, to maintain all climate parameters during continuous operation - e.g. at 85 C/85% relative humidity, even under exceptional conditions, e.g. midsummer outdoor temperatures or extreme climatic conditions inside the product. With the new features now found in the WK3, Weiss engineers have considerably reduced the required service and maintenance work and thus save the user not only time but money. The humidification water always remains clean thanks to the flushing of the humidity bath. This means that interruptions in operation due to contamination are a thing of the past. The automated replenishment of water can be used to ensure even longer interruptionfree continuous operation without replenishment. The self-cleaning humidity sensor considerably extends the service life. Weiss Umwelttechnik has over 50 years of experience in the manufacture of test chambers. An intensive exchange of information with our customers enables us to design sophisticated products that meet all requirements. E.g., the optimised air circulation together with the modern autoadaptive control system with continuous self-optimisation ensures an extremely homogeneous distribution of temperature with a maximum fluctuation of only ±1.5 K. The optimised test space lighting with automatic switch-off ensures that all test specimens are illuminated, as and when required. The supply lines for the test specimens are inserted through large port holes into the test space thus reducing set-up times between tests. By remote access via the Internet, the customer can authorize Weiss service technicians to view service-relevant information and if necessary provide the user with support as soon as possible.
