Operating a Landfill site As the owner or operator of a landfill site you have to run the site as a successful business, managing overheads, avoiding over expenditure, meeting and keeping abreast of legislative requirements, finance projects from conception to completion (an unspecified period of time) whilst making the most of the asset potential. 4 Project implementation Assessment and recommendation The process usually starts with a site survey, including a desktop study of relevant information, and assessment of the performance of any gas and leachate control measures. This then leads to our recommendation for the management of gas and leachate and preparation of the aftercare plan. Project implementation The Contract Site Aftercare Plan from Biogas comprises of three stages: assessment and recommendation, system design and installation and ongoing environmental management. The aim of the plan will be to provide reliable and cost effective compliance with all licences and regulatory requirements such as ATEX Directive, PPC Compliance and Environment Agency compliance, whilst optimising activity within the site to shorten the time until it is rendered inert. System design and implementation Once the aftercare plan has been agreed with all the relevant parties the next step is the detailed design of any systems required for the effective control and monitoring of gas and leachate, or upgrade of existing facilities as appropriate.

5 Aftercare Management The rigorous implementation of a monitoring and maintenance programme for the site and the systems is then installed in order to ensure their continuing effectiveness throughout the contract period. Our methods ensure the optimum performance of the site with adjustments made on a regular basis, which can be carried out either remotely or manually by our team of experts in response to changing conditions. We then communicate our performance by providing regular reports on site activity so you can be rest assured the site is in good hands.
