1 METHODOLOGY IN RELATION TO THE NATURAL GAS MARKET STATISTICS 1. Purpose The purpose of these statistics is to present the evolution of the main relative figures of natural gas at a national level. These statistics serve as core the information submitted to the Sub-Directorate General of Energy Planning & Monitoring for the posterior elaboration of operations 7131 and 7135; included within the National Statistical Plan under Royal Decree 410/2016, dated the 31 st October, which approves the National Statistical Plan for The information pretends to provide the most complete picture as possible of the natural gas sector at a national level, including data related to imports, exports, production, consumption, stocks, etc. 2. Content Below is an explanation of the content of the published statistics: 1. The population subjected to study comprises the entities bound by the obligations of the General Directorate of Energy Policy and Mines Resolution, dated 15th December of The geographical sphere to which the statistical report refers is primarily national. 3. The reference period for the data submitted are established by the General Directorate of Energy Policy and Mines Resolution, dated the 15 th December 2008, by which the entities obliged by directorate are required to submit the information related to the previous month by the 20 th of each current month Study variables: The main study variables are as follows: Natural gas consumption Natural gas stocks Natural gas exports Natural gas exports exit point Natural gas imports Natural gas imports entry point Indigenous natural gas production Natural gas production balance Some of questionnaires included under the Resolution are on an annual basis METHODOLOGY IN RELATION TO THE NATURAL GAS MARKET STATISTICS- 1

Type of operation Under the General Directorate of Energy Policy and Mines Resolution regulations, dated the 15th December 2008, by which questionnaires and forms are established for the correct submission of data from the subjects obliged (above mentioned), participants of the natural gas system (attached as an annex): all transport companies, retailers and direct consumers, Technical Systems Managers, distributors and other entities required to maintain minimum security stocks will be expected to provide updated information. The methodology for gathering data is via a census. The information is received is via Excel files through CORES submission platform (InfoCores). It is specifically developed and enabled by Cores for the exchange of secure information between the bound entities and the Corporation. The information will be collected from monthly questionnaires, available on the Cores website. ( 4. Dissemination The divulgation dates are listed in the publications/events Calendar on the Cores website ( meeting the time limits established within the corresponding National Statistical Plan Annual Program. The format for dissemination is via internet on the Cores website which has subscriptions and notifications services ( There are several publication formats, including pdf ( with clear graphic information, explanatory text and summary tables, also available in Excel. They include essential sector figures, designed to provide full updates both annually (the Annual Statistical Report) and monthly (the Hydrocarbon Statistics Bulletin). Applicable energy products Natural gas is defined in Annex B Chapter List of aggregates The following list of aggregates shall be declared for all energy products listed in the previous paragraph unless otherwise specified Supply sector 1. Indigenous production All dry marketable production within national boundaries, including offshore production. Production is measured after purification and extraction of NGLs and sulphur. Excludes extraction losses and quantities reinjected, vented or flared. Includes quantities used within the natural gas industry; in gas extraction, pipeline systems and processing plants. 2. Imports 3. Exports 4. Stock changes A stock build is shown as a positive number and a stock draw is shown as a negative number. 5. Calculated gross inland deliveries This is defined as: indigenous production + imports exports stock change. 6. Statistical difference Defined as the calculated gross inland delivery minus the observed one. 7. Observed gross inland deliveries Includes gas used by the gas industry for heating and operation of their equipment (i.e. consumption in gas extraction, in the pipeline system and in processing plants) and losses in distribution. 8. Opening and closing levels of stocks held on national territory Quantities stored in special storage facilities (depleted gas and/or oil field, aquifer, salt cavity, mixed caverns or other) as well as liquefied natural gas storage. By opening stocks are meant the stocks on the last day of the month preceding the reported one. By closing stocks are meant the stocks on the last day of the reported month. 9. Own use and losses of the natural gas industry Own used quantities by the gas industry for heating and operation of its equipment (i.e. consumption in gas extraction, in the pipeline system and in processing plants). Includes losses in distribution Imports and exports Imports by country of origin, and exports by country of destination Units of measurement Quantities must be declared in two units: in physical quantity, in 106 m3 assuming reference gas conditions (15 oc, 101,325 kpa). in energy content, i.e. in TJ, based on the gross calorific value.
