Objectives : - To generate power from its existing Generating Stations in the most efficient manner on commercial lines and to sell the same to distribution companies. To set up new Power Generation Projects.

6 IMPROVEMENT IN PERFORMANCE OF HPGCL SINCE ITS CREATION Particulars Achievements Installed (MW) Capacity An addition of more than 150%. Auxiliary Consumption (%) A reduction of 17.5% resulting into lower cost of generation. 9 POWER SCENARIO CAPACITY ADDITION PROGRAMME OF HARYANA In the 17th Electric Power Survey carried out by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), New Delhi, peak demand of 6839 MW has been projected for Haryana during the year However, on the basis of actual load growth pattern, Haryana has made liberal projections of 15% per annum increase in growth of peak demand which is expected to reach 7335 MW during and MW by the year Haryana has accordingly embarked on an aggressive programme for capacity addition to the tune of 5000 MW during the 11th Plan period.

First Project in the Country where BTG equipment was supplied by M/s Shanghai Electric Corp. China. Very low per MW EPC cost - Rs Crore per MW. First Unit was commissioned in a record period of 27 months which is the lowest for any coal based green field project in the Country.

LOI ISSUED TO M/S CLP POWER INDIA PVT. LTD. ON COAL LINKAGE FOR THE PROJECT MTPA RECEIVED FROM CCL WATER AVAILABILITY OF 50 CUSECS ALLOWED BY HARYANA IRRIGATION DEPTT. FROM JAWAHAR LAL NEHRU CANAL. PPA SIGNED BY UHBVNL & DHBVNL ON POWER LIKELY TO BE AVAILABLE FROM DEC., 2011.

23 PROCUREMENT OF UPTO 2000 MW POWER ON LONG TERM BASIS THROUGH TARIFF BASED COMPETITIVE BIDDING- CASE 1 ARRANGEMENTS FINALIZED FOR PROCUREMENT OF 2113 MW POWER THROUGH TARIFF BASED COMPETITIVE BIDDING UNDER CASE-I. PPA ALREADY SIGNED WITH M/S ADANI FOR 1424 MW AND M/S PTC FOR 300 MW. POWER LIKELY TO BE AVAILABLE FROM DEC, 2011 ONWARDS.

24 FUTURE GENERATION PROJECTS / INITIATIVES BEING PLANNED IN THE STATE 1050 MW Gas based Project at Faridabad by phasing out old Faridabad Thermal Power Station. 300 MW capacity Thermal Unit at Yamuna Nagar as an extension of 2x300 MW DCRTPP, Yamuna Nagar MW (4x700 MW) Nuclear Power Plant near Fatehabad Site stands identified by Nuclear Power Corporation of India. Coal block at Mara-II Mahan in MP with estimated coal reserves of 956 Million Tonnes allocated jointly to HPGCL and Delhi Govt. Required steps being taken for development of coal block.

EXPEDITING THE NUCLEAR POWER PLANT AT FATEHABAD, IN VIEW OF THE INDO-US NUCLEAR DEAL. DEVELOPMENT OF A SYSTEM FOR SELLING SURPLUS POWER TO OTHER STATES.
