12 The BBI JU: structure and priorities Public partner 27% of investment 3.7 billion Private partner 73% of investment A structured approach via 5 Value Chains (VC)... VC 1: From lignocellulosic feedstock to advanced biofuels, biobased chemicals & biomaterials VC 2: Next generation forest-based value chains VC 3: Next generation agro-based value chains VC 4: New value chains from (organic) waste VC 5: Integrated energy, pulp and chemicals biorefineries..marine bioresource exploitation is also included BBI JU WP2018 WILL BE PUBLISHED on APRIL 11, 2018 (115 M ind.)

13 The BBI JU: some priorities of WP2018 BBI SO1.R1 Resolve logistical, infrastructural and technological challenges to valorise residual and side streams from aquaculture, fisheries and the aquatic biomass processing industries. RIA, 2-5 Mln. ExpectedTRL4-5. BBI 2018 SO2.R4 Apply advanced biotechnologies to convert biomass that contains inhibitors into high value-added chemicals and materials. RIA Final TRL for the bio-based value chain in question: at least 3. The starting one may be as low as 1 or 2. The proposals requesting a BBI JU contribution of between 1 and 2.5 Mln would allow the specific challenge to be addressed appropriately.
