5 Koehler Renewable Energy GmbH Koehler Renewable Energy GmbH is part of the Koehler Energy Group which operates under the umbrella of the Koehler Group. In addition to the Koehler Energy Group, the Koehler Group also includes the Koehler Paper Group, a very energy intensive business in the paper industry which has been actively investing in its own energy supplies for a number of years. As well as the activities of Koehler Renewable Energy GmbH, the Koehler Paper Group also operates power generation plants at its sites, many of which have undergone expansion and new investment in recent years. The Oberkirch location includes a circulating fluidised bed combustion (CFBC) heating and power plant, a 'cold reserve' power plant inaugurated in 2011, and four hydro power plants. The Greiz location unveiled a new, highly)efficient combined heat and power (cogeneration) plant in 2011, while the Katz site in Weisenbach operates two hydro plants.
