Call a physician or Poison Control Centre immediately. Move to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. Consult a physician. Product is a corrosive material. Use of gastric lavage or emesis is contraindicated. Possible perforation of stomach or esophagus should be investigated. Do not give chemical antidotes. Asphyxia from glottal edema may occur. Marked decrease in blood pressure may occur with moist rales, frothy sputum, and high pulse pressure. Avoid direct contact with skin. Use barrier to give mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. 5. FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES Suitable extinguishing media Dry chemical or CO2. Extinguishing media which must not be used for safety reasons Decomposition by contact with water may generate vapours which can be ignited by heat or open flame. Specific hazards Flammable. Produce toxic and/or corrosive substances on contact with water. Special protective equipment for firefighters Corrosive hazard. Wear protective gloves/clothing and eye/face protection. Wear self contained breathing apparatus for fire fighting if necessary. 6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES Environmental precautions Personal precautions Methods for cleaning up Methods for Containment Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. Prevent product from entering drains. Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system. Local authorities should be advised if significant spillages cannot be contained. Look out! Corrosive material. Remove all sources of ignition. Ensure adequate ventilation. Use personal protective equipment. Evacuate personnel to safe areas. Soak up with inert absorbent material. Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal. Contain and collect spillage with non-combustible absorbent material, (e.g. sand, earth, diatomaceus earth, vermiculite) and place in container for disposal according to local / national regulations (see Section 13). Other information Refer to protective measures listed in Sections 7 and HANDLING AND STORAGE Handling Storage Ensure adequate ventilation. Wear personal protective equipment. Keep away from open flames, hot surfaces and sources of ignition. Take precautionary measures against static discharges. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Keep containers tightly closed in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place. Keep away from heat and sources of ignition. Page 2 / 7
