11 Effluent Re-use Due to the dwindling Vaal River supply, RW is investigating treatment of sewage effluent from municipal systems into industrial water grade. Treatment of AMD Acid Mine Drainage continues to threaten the catchment and flooding the city of Johannesburg, RW has engaged mining houses to address the challenge. Co-Generation Energy costs continue to rise in SA, RW has started a project of clean energy generation using the water flow in the pipes. The Rand Water Academy

14 Operations & Maintenance of WWTW and Sewer Pump Stations. CLIENT: Emfuleni Local Municipality: Gauteng Province SCOPE: Rand Water was appointed in September 2009 ( 5 year contract) for the operation and maintenance of three wastewater treatment works and 52 sewer pump stations. OBJECTIVE: To improve effluent quality, reduce sewer spillages from the pump stations and enhancement skills development through capacity building of process controllers. VALUE: R1.2m/year Progress: 60% Jobs Created: 6 Process Controllers appointed, 4 Artisans & 2 Analyst given experiential learning through RWF

15 CLIENT: Emfuleni Local Municipality: Gauteng Province SCOPE: Rand Water was appointed in June 2011 to be Implementing Agent for the EIA of the upgrade of Rietspruit & Sebokeng WWTW. OBJECTIVE: To improve effluent quality at Rietspruit WWTW and increase hydraulic loading of Sebokeng WWTW. VALUE: R3m Progress: 80% Jobs Created: nil EIA for the Upgrade of Rietspruit & Sebokeng WWTW

16 CLIENT: DWA Mpumalanga SCOPE: Rand Water was appointed in Jan 2011 to refurbish Riverview WWTW at emalahleni local municipality. OBJECTIVE: Repair & replace mechanical, electrical and civil infrastructure to restore the functionality of the plant. VALUE: R5.7m Progress: 100% Jobs Created: 13 jobs created Refurbishment of Riverview WWTW

17 Operations, Maintenance And Process Advisory At Tweefontein WWTW CLIENT: Thembisile Hani Local Municipality Mpumalanga SCOPE: Rand Water was appointed in October 2009 to operate, maintain, transfer technical skills and provide process advisory services at their oxidation ponds. OBJECTIVE: To improve operational efficiencies enhancing improved effluent quality. VALUE: R0.9m Progress: 80% Jobs Created: 4 unemployed engineering/science graduate

18 CLIENT: DWA - Mpumalanga Refurbishment of Brugspruit AMD Works SCOPE: Rand Water was appointed to refurbish the works from OBJECTIVE: To refurbish the acid mine drainage plant (replace mechanical & electrical equipment and refurbish civil structures) VALUE: R0.5m Progress: 100% Jobs Created: 16 jobs created for local youth

19 Upgrade of Hannes Van Niekerk WWTW CLIENT: DWA & Westonaria Municipality - Gauteng SCOPE: Rand Water was appointed as implementing agent for the construction of 15 ML/day WWTW at Westonaria Local Municipality. The scope include Civil, mechanical and electrical installations. OBJECTIVE: To increase the capacity to treat sewage to acceptable effluent standards. VALUE: R266m Progress: 10% Jobs Created: 101 jobs created. R allocated for further training.

20 CLIENT: Govan Mbeki Municipality - Mpumalanga SCOPE: The project entails determining the Non- Revenue water for the municipality and identifying measures to reduce the losses. OBJECTIVE: To reduce unaccounted for water VALUE: R3m Progress: 35% Jobs Created: 8 Govan Mbeki Water Demand Project

21 CLIENT: DWA & Metsimaholo Municipality SCOPE: Rand Water is appointed as an Implementing Agent for a water loss project in Metsimaholo. OBJECTIVE: To determine the Non- Revenue water for the municipality and identify measures to reduce the losses. VALUE: R1.5m Progress: 37% Jobs Created: 6 Metsi Maholo Water Demand Project

22 CLIENT: Ngwathe Municipality - Freestate SCOPE: Rand Water is appointed as an Implementing Agent for a water loss project in Ngwathe Municipality. OBJECTIVE: The project is aimed at addressing the areas of high water losses within the municipality s areas of supply. VALUE: R0.57m Progress: 10% Jobs Created: 10 Ngwathe Water Loss Emergency Project

23 CLIENT: DWA & DCOG SCOPE: Rand Water was appointed as an Implementing Agent for the refurbishment of the WHV scheme. OBJECTIVE: To ensure effective and efficient management of water to the benefit of all the communities benefiting from the scheme. 24 Refurbishment of Emalahleni Bulk Scheme CLIENT: DWA & DCOG - Mpumalanga SCOPE: Rand Water was appointed in August 2011 as the Implementing Agent for the Water Services Emergency Rehabilitation Intervention Project: Phase 1. OBJECTIVE: Refurbish key components of the bulk water infrastructure to mitigate operational risk and further improve water quantity and quality. VALUE: R45m Progress: 100% Jobs Created: 114
