Friends Of The Earth Germany Bund für Umwelt und Naturschutz Deutschland (BUND) e.v. was founded in 1975 has its origin in nature conservation movement non-governmental organisation one of the most influential environmental organisations in Germany about 400,000 members and supporters BUND regional association Berlin City-related topics regarding: climate protection and energy issues, transportation and mobility or nature conservation National projects (Annegret Dickhoff): BUND-Gütesiegel Energie sparendes Krankenhaus KLIK - Klimamanager für Kliniken

KLIK - Overview funded by Federal Environment Ministry time period partner viamedica Foundation for a Healthy Medicine focus energy savings in German hospitals through non- and low-investment measures

Development of greenhouse gas emissions

Situation in German hospitals hospitals hospital beds total energy consumption /a energy consumption per bed/a 3,232 (acute: 2,017 and rehabilitation: 1,215) 670,000 (acute: 501,000 und rehabilitation: 169,000) 12.5 million MWh heating und 13.9 million MWh electricity 24,670 kwh heating und 17,786 kwh electricity Federal Statistical Office 2012, Fraunhofer UMSICHT 2009, BUND Research Group Energy 2012

Situation in German hospitals total costs/a personnel: 47.4 billion non-personnel-costs: 30.3 billion energy: billion ( 2,537 per bed/a) potential savings 600 million and 006 million t CO 2 à % energy per clinic Federal Statistical Office 2012, Fraunhofer UMSICHT 2009, BUND Research Group Energy 2012

KLIK Goals use energy saving potential in hospitals qualification of 50 climate managers creation of an internal network in every hospital preparation of an online guidebook publication of a "KLIK data base" with examples of best practices reduction of CO 2 -emissions of at least 30,000 t (10 % per house) through non- and low-investment measures this means energy cost reduction of about 6 10 % per clinic

KLIK Course of the project Process monitoring by project partners results organisational: structural analysis questionnaire online-guidebook professional: qualification 1 training 4 regionalised groups 50 climate managers professional and organisational: CO 2 - saving measures 2 workshops 4 regionalised groups telephone support final workshop final conference KLIK data base 2014 CO 2 - reduction of 30,000 tons 2016 through non- and low-investment measures

Training and workshops regionalised training und support: training workshop 1 workshop 2 workshop 3 und final conference group 1 Oct 2014 Jan 2015 Sep 2015 group 2 Mar 2015 Jun 2015 Jan 2016 group 3 Oct 2015 Dec 2015 Jun 2016 Nov 2016 group 4 Feb 2016 May 2016 Sep 2016

Criteria for climate managers a potential climate manager should be well anchored in internal hospital structures ideally a person (with a leading position) in one of the departments: - administration - technical management - quality management - controlling or IT and he/she should have an affinity for climate protection issues authority to decide / have a say

KLIK Participation advantages requirements for participation qualified climate manager individual structural analysis per clinic free process monitoring and support image improvement reduced energy costs energy saving potential expenses travel costs for 1 training and 3 workshop days training fee
