ORGANICS PROCESSING Offerings BioWatt Engineering Engineered IVC Two Main Offerings: Purdie Agitated Continuous Flow BioReactor MIDAS Tunnel In Vessel Composting Focussed on Difficult to Process Materials: Sewage Grits, Screenings and Sewer Washings Oil Based Mud (OBM) and Drill Cuttings from Oil and Gas Fish Farming and Aquaculture Wastes Absorbent Hygiene Products Zoo Poo

ORGANICS PROCESSING Offerings BioWatt Engineering Engineered IVC IN VESSEL COMPOSTING The basics Composting - a naturally occurring process in the presence of oxygen and water Biological processes - regulated by natural environmentally limiting factors ELFs - include insufficient oxygen, water, substrate, temperature Remove ELFs in a controlled engineered environment - biological population explode exponentially Massive growth in the biological population - Processes happen in days rather than months

BioWatt Engineering Products & Services Tunnel Composting Design & Build Application - Aerated floor in-tunnel composting facilities IP/ know-how resides with BioWatt Marsham IVC in operation Completing Wakefield PFI Project with Shanks PURDIE Plug Flow In-Vessel Bioreactor Design & Build Most aggressive and effective composting technology Can deal with difficult hiodour & hi-pathogen waste materials. UK designed and built technology Mark I operating in Kent Mark II designed

PURDIE BIOREACTOR Grit and Screenings Processing BioWatt Engineering INPUT MATERIALS GRITS SCREENINGS SEWER WASHINGS Engineered IVC Site Clearance Wood wastes Grits & Screenings Grits: Smaller particles No shredding Added to the process directly > 60% organic material Screenings: Long and raggy in appearance Issue - can wrap around moving parts Need to be macerated at the works >80% organic material General Qualities/ Issues: Highly odorous High pathogen count High moisture content High bulk density High cost of disposal ( > 100/t)

PURDIE BIOREACTOR Biology BioWatt Engineering Engineered IVC Grits & Screenings WASTES Unstable material with high O 2 demand Biohazard - Odorous CH 2 O etc Heat O 2 Air introduced through turning - Forced air injection CO 2 H 2 O PRODUCT Stabilised material Contains little readily biodegradable Carbon Low odour - Low O 2 demand - Low pathogens

PURDIE BIOREACTOR Principle of Operation & Dimensions BioWatt Engineering Engineered IVC Grits & Screenings Material from Centre Outward Length 10.0m (excl. motor gearbox) Width 4.0m Height 2.5m Blend material into centre Capacity Motor Power Power Use Temperature Options Up to 6000kgs per day (14 cubic 0.5BD) 2 x 9kW Main Drive 2 x 3ph 415v 50 Amp 500 kwh per week 8 Channel Biofiltration, pre-shredder, loading hopper, conveying systems for stockpiling, end product screening

PURDIE BIOREACTOR Installation and Operation BioWatt Engineering Engineered IVC Grits & Screenings INSTALLATION: Unit designed to fit on the back of a self off-load vehicle [wide load] Quick and easy to install [ plug and play ] Easily moved at a later date High residual value OPERATION: Unit is controlled by programmable PLC Touch screen HMI screen Connectivity allows access via the internet Unit is on weigh cells allowing accurate feeding Auto cut-outs with built in protection

PURDIE BIOREACTOR Process Flow BioWatt Engineering Process Flow Engineered IVC Grits & Screenings Delivery of materials to site Preparation of material for treatment. Un-macerated screenings require shredding to avoid wrapping problems Blending with amending material and additives Finished material can be screened and sent for land remediation or biomass fuel Treated material is free of nuisance odour and is stored for up to two weeks PURDIE Material spends up to 8-10 days in Bioreactor. Material is turned up to 250 times to maximise/ evenly distribute the composting process

PURDIE BIOREACTOR Mass Balance BioWatt Engineering Engineered IVC Grits & Screenings Process Flow 5 tonnes of input material drains on the reception floor to 4 tonnes 4 tonnes of input material is blended with 1.5 tonnes of woody wastes 5.5 tonnes of total feed c. 15% (by weight) of the finished product is oversize the woody fraction can be recirculated 40-60% mass reduction occurs: 2 tpd product discharged PURDIE 5 6 tonnes per day of total feed is dose-fed from the hopper over a 24 hour period on an hourly basis

PURDIE BIOREACTOR Product ~ Properties and Values BioWatt Engineering Engineered IVC Grits & Screenings Comparison of Input and Output Characteristics INPUT PRODUCT Tonnes per Day Cost / t [landfill] /t [restoration] DM Content 40-45% 80-95% Bulk Density 500 kg/m kg/m 3 Calorific Value < 5MJ/kg >10MJ/kg ph e.
