Main revisions: Manure Storage Replaces version 2 ( ) Layout Test Protocol o Uniformity between protocols o International standard Requirements, recommendations, description of sampling and testing parameters o Minimum dimensions for both liquid and solid storages o Description of the use of micromet and chambers Odour measurements o VDI 3880 o Might only be accepted by German authorities

Main revisions: Slurry Separation Replaces version 2 ( ) Layout Test Protocol o Uniformity between protocols o International standard Requirements, recommendations, description of sampling and testing parameters o e.g. mass flow and emission measurements Standard reference method, and validation of equivalence according to EN Mass balances for all mandatory parameters are required, not only for nitrogen Apart from livestock slurry, biogas slurry (digestate) is also now within the scope of this test protocol Parameters are grouped into categories (characteristics of slurry or biomass, the technology itself, and emission parameters)

Main revisions: Air Cleaners (I) Replaces version 1 ( ) Layout Test Protocol o Uniformity between protocols o International standard Standard reference method, and validation of equivalence according to EN o Photoacoustic infrared monitor not allowed (NH 3 ) Verification of operation stability More detailed description of sampling periods for summer and winter conditions Requirement of using duplicates when using time-averaged techniques New section on data treatment and calculation More detailed description on requirements for reporting

Main revisions: Air Cleaners (II) N balance defined in more detail o Sampling period/conditions o Water analyses o Calculation method o NOx and N2O measurements mandatory for biological systems o Continuous measurement of N 2 O with FTIR o Continuous measurement of NOx with chemiluminescence o For multistage scrubber systems only the total N balance is required and not for the individual steps. The step of bio filtering with organic filling material should not be included in the balancing.

Main revisions: Housing Systems (I) Replaces version 2 ( ) Layout Test Protocol o Uniformity between protocols o International standard Naturally ventilated buildings included

Main revisions: Housing Systems (II) More elaborate description on choosing the right test design Yes Two identical compartments available? No Switching case and control compartments possible? System may be easily switched on and off? Yes No Yes No Case-control approach (systematic switching between compartments) Systematic differences between compartments (fixed case-control) Case-control approach in time on-off Multi-farm approach

Main revisions: Housing Systems (III) More elaborate description on choosing the right test locations

Animal weight Animal weight Main revisions: Housing Systems (IV) More elaborate description on sampling frequency Per farm location, 6 periods of 24 h distributed over 1 year. Depending on the test set up, more than 6 x 24 hours could be necessary Distribution depending on emission patterns Day in production cycle Day in production cycle

Main revisions: Housing Systems (V) Standard reference method, and validation of equivalence according to EN Ammonia: impinger system Odour: dynamic olfactometry (EN13725) Dust: EN standards Air volume: fan-wheel anemometer and tracer gas ratio methods Requirement of using duplicates when using time-averaged techniques [CNH ] barn [C 3 NH 3 ENH3 Ptracer [C ] [C tracer barn tracer ] outside ] outside

Main revisions: Housing Systems (VI) Plausibility of measurements Statistical tests (outliers) Accordance to agronomic requirements, completeness of data CO 2 -tracer gas ratio method: open Excel calculation tool
