1 Thunder Bay CEDC Promotional Video SCRIPT Objective: The Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Commission (CEDC) promotional video aims to promote Thunder Bay and the region to prospective businesses and entrepreneurs seeking to establish operations in Northwestern Ontario. The video is intended primarily for web and event use with a goal of capturing the attention of interested parties and stimulating further inquiries and dialogue between the CEDC and decision makers in the private sector. Tone: The video concept is built around the attached monologue (script) to be delivered by an actor in a positive, confident and inspired way. Key delivery elements will include: Matter of Fact Strong Proud Confident Relevant b roll will be used to visually complement the script and a suggested shot list is included with the script. The supporting visuals will have a reasonably fast pace as they will need to keep up with the speaker. Emotion On an emotional level, both verbally and visually, the video aims to communicate a strong business tradition in Thunder Bay and Northwestern Ontario, the strength and dignity of our people and the adaptable, connected and modern business climate. Theme The key themes highlighted in this video will include: A Tradition of Trade & Commerce Thunder Bay as a Hub / Gateway / Link to the world A Modern, Connected & Innovative Community With a Global Reach

Really, really big. In fact, Northwestern Ontario covers a larger land area than every American States except Texas and Alaska and is bigger than most Canadian provinces. That s over five hundred twentysix thousand square kilometers. In every direction, Thunder Bay links this vast land to the continent and the continent to this land and its people. It is a place with a proud tradition of trade and commerce that has lasted over twenty five hundred years: from traditional First Nation copper trade to becoming a major hub in the fur trade of the seventeenth century. Through forestry and shipping booms to today, where a new, connected and economically diverse Thunder Bay remains the regional hub and the link that connects Northwestern Ontario to the world. 2. Yes, we built that. Today, Tbaytel connects the remote north to Thunder Bay and Thunder Bay to the whole world spurring new, global trade opportunities. This is a north that is state ofthe art and open for business with anyone, anywhere. 3. [TRANSPORTATION:] Highways / Transport Trucks There is no better starting point for moving goods. A major north south corridor and a gateway to the east and west, Thunder Bay really is a central location.

Need air transportation? We can do that. The Thunder Bay International Airport is the third largest in Ontario moving close to a million people annually and transporting goods to major markets not to mention remote places other airports simply can t reach. Remote fishing anyone? How about rail? We have rail service by both, Canadian National and Canadian Pacific Railways. And shipping? We can do shipping. The Thunder Bay Port Authority is a major international inland port, importing manufactured goods for the continent and exporting food products to the world. An important artery to the continent, the port moves seven million tons of cargo annually. Yes, we built that too and speaking of building: 4. With dynamic Lake Superior winds and the dense air, Thunder Bay enjoys a natural advantage for developing renewable energy from wind and water. As for biomass, Thunder Bay is a global leader in research and production of forest biomass products including wood pellets. That s high tech stuff. 5. We re happy to help our friends in the Greater Toronto Area solve gridlock conditions.
