Membrane Technique Modern methods of water treatment processes are hardly possible without membrane techniques. In nearly every field of application membrane techniques are used. AquaCare offers the full spectrum ranging from micro filtration to reverse osmosis for desalination. Starting with micro filtration the pore size of the used membrane decreases to reverse osmosis. The smaller the pores, the greater the influence of the osmotic pressure and the working pressure of the unit. 0, kd RO Reverse Osmosis all salts are rejected Type of Filtration NF UF Nanofiltration salts are selectively rejected Ultrafiltration molecules are rejected MF Microfiltration particles are rejected 0,0001 0,001 0,01 0, Size of Particle respectively Molecule in µm AquaCare, MF2, BasiTech are trade marks of AquaCare

Operation of reverse osmosis technology If two aqueous solutions with different salinities (eg clean and dirty water) are separated by a semipermeable membrane, so both solutions try to achieve a concentration balance. However, the membrane is permeable almost only for water molecules and salts can not pass through the membrane. So the water flows from the clean side to the concentrated side (1) until both solutions contain the same salt concentration or the backpressure (osmotic pressure) of the dirty side prevents any additional flow (2). This principle is called osmosis. before membrane water pressure low high salt concentration (1.) (2.) after As a result, the water molecules are forced through the membrane and flow out of the system (permeate) the salts are rejected. It is important that on the dirty side of the membrane the remaining substances are removed continuously. Therefore, a part of the water stream is drained from the dirty side (concentrate). Without a concentrate flow the dirty side gets more concentrated and salts are able to precipitated - the result is a clogged membrane. The technical reversal of the osmosis process (= reverse osmosis) needs for this purpose pressure (in form of water pressure), so that the water on the dirty side has a higher pressure than the osmotic pressure of the solution (3). pressure membrane (3.) 4 Micro and Ultra Filtration - MF - UF Micro- and ultrafiltration systems are used for a variety of applications in different fields Pre-Treatment for Reverse Osmosis Plants: Because reverse osmosis spiral wound modules are sensitive to particles, microfiltration is useful as a pretreatment wherever the raw water is contaminated with particles. Compared with traditional sand filters as pretreatment, the MF system improves the life of the membranes crucial. Water recycling of washing water: If conventional filters are backwashed, a high consumption of washing water is necessary. With micro filtration a high proportion of water can be recovered and used again. Removal of turbidity: For eliminating turbidity from process waters or other fluids filtration through microfibres is useful and economic. AquaCare offers micro and ultra filtration units from some litres per hour up to some 100 m 3 /h. AquaCare, MF2, BasiTech are trade marks of AquaCare

Large Reverse Osmosis units - RO Wherever pure water is required, the use of reverse osmosis technology is useful. In contrast to the ion exchange process, the use of chemicals is considerably lower. In the recent years the energy demand has improved significantly by using ultra-low-pressure membranes. All large-scale systems are designed, built and tested according to the wishes of the customer and the composition of the raw water by AquaCare. A special design program and decades of know-how of our engineers and technicians are available.

Small systems - RO In addition to a variety of standard units small reverse osmosis can be produced according to our customer s requirements. OEM systems are another important component in the AquaCare portfolio. Whether conventional equipment or direct flow systems, whether small installations from 3 l/h without pressure pump up to 45 l/h with Low voltage pumps or booster modules up to 150 l/h with industrypressure pumps, AquaCare can offer the right system for your needs. The realization of special requests is daily business at AquaCare.

Complete systems with pre- and post-treatment AquaCare builds your reverse osmosis system complete with pre-treatment (softening, iron removal, dosage), pressure vessel or unpressurized storage tank, pressure boosting, second-stage RO, downstream mixed bed resin, or realizes special requests such as stainless steel housings for hygienically relevant areas.

CIP Clean In Place In particular, for large systems, which are not operated with an upstream softening, the membranes must be cleaned from time to time with chemicals. The so-called CIP systems can be built directly on large systems or are available as stand-alone systems. With the help of special cleaning chemicals deposits can be dissolved and washed away on the membranes. The running costs, especially for sea water desalination plants are thus minimized.

General water treatment AquaCare designs systems, that produce defined water quality. These systems are used, for example for quality assurance of water-powered equipment such as pumps, water heaters and solenoid valves.

Dosing systems for water conditioning For industrial production the process water must often be conditioned to certain chemicals. AquaCare builds individual dosing systems adapted to the particular application. Whether precision pumps with dosing ranges to 1: 3000, calibration, high precision flow meter, proportional control with PLC or conventional components, remote system, materials such as PP, PE, PVC, PVDF, AquaCare realized (almost) all your wishes.
