From Term 1 Ongoing Worm Farm throughout the year, Fundraiser for money to change or add to an environmental strategy going in the school, maybe lighting. Fundraiser to be a drive selling environmentally friendly light globes. Using left over lunch waste for food for worms using Bokachi buckets. Term Year 5 Who am I? Australian. A unit on our Heritage European and Indigenous. Looking at our country s uniqueness and what makes us great friends and what makes us who we are, our strengths and weaknesses, talents and goals. Throughout the secondary department there is an emphasis on reducing paper resources, taking more pride and care with existing resources for example- sporting gear, to reduce replacement costs. 7 Year 10 Science Term 1 Global warming. Study of advantages and disadvantages of renewable energy sources. Students will then develop a proposal for the best renewable energy supply for a new eco-resort at the Nullabor. Design project for an alternate energy system. Term 2 to be negotiated Year 9 Science Term 1 Greenhouse gas and global warming unit. Year 8 science and ongoing Industrial Technology and Design MISCELLANEOUS ACTIVITIES Purchase of renewable timber resources. Minimisation of resource quantities where possible. Ongoing and ongoing Reef Guardian School Coordinator Classroom Music Years Prep - 7 National Sea Week Celebrations. Robyn will introduce and teach more sea/marine themed songs into the classroom music program to further familiarize students with the reef/sea environment. eg. Mighty Monarch of the Ocean and the Coral Reef from Rosie Emery s Canadian Music program. Our School choir will learn and present 3 songs (also from Rosie Emery s program): We re All Interconnected, The Rainbow Road Song and Friends with the Earth. Administration Administration will consider green choices wherever possible with the schools purchasing policy. Administration will begin to establish a paperless communication system within the school. 7

8 and ongoing P&C The P&C will focus decisions made around the environment. Tuckshop will begin to use recycled paper for wrapping lunches. Sustainable Living Coordinator Organise Funky Futures Festival for local schools and community. Showcase school sustainability activities including: o Permaculture garden o Environmental action groups o Anti-bullying activities o Earth Charter activities o Water management practices o Recycling activities o Worm farms etc Term Resource Centre Resource center staff will have a display in the staffroom of marine/sea/sustainability themed curriculum resources available in the library. Continue to recycle paper. Give teachers bulk loans on environmentally sustainable teaching resources Education of the community through: o Regular features in the school newsletter (written by students and staff) o Eco-friendly signs around the school and Use of the community notice board downtown to promote key messages o Presentations and displays at every available opportunity o Inviting the community members and local schools to the Funky Futures Festival (Term 2) and Fairly Funky Fun Festival (Term 4) o Presentations of environmental songs by school choir at school parades and other school and community events 8
