SOLAR PACKAGE SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANTS ( Using NTS technology)

Summary of Technology: (Anoxic Aerobic Absorption Separation Sewage Treatment Unit) The technology used to treat the sewage is a combination of anaerobic/aerobic biological and absorption filtration process. This process has proven itself over the last 10 years to be reliable and cost effective. The process uses bacteria to reduce the BOD load as well as provide nitrification and denitrification of ammonia. The Absorption filtration process ensures the removal of phosphates and heavy metals present in the effluent. The final inline filter is an Activated Ceramics Technology filter that ensure total disinfection of the processed water. This allows the treated effluent to be either safely discharged to the environment or alternatively reused to refill the flush toilet cistern to flush the toilet again. All our systems are Agrément certified (Certificate 2014/466) 1. Recycle Reactor: Main Components 1. The Sludge Separator. 2. Anoxic Zone Clarifier insert (A). 3. Main Reactor. 4. Primary Aerobic Clarifier insert (B) 5. Aeration Unit (1) 6. Sump Insert. 7. Filter Housing Insert. 8. Absorption Filter (C) 9. Activated Ceramics Technology inline filter (2) All components are uniquely designed to fit into each other when assembled to provide a compact product.

Flow Process 1. Sludge Separator: Sewage waste enters Sludge Separator where all faecal matter are contained and digested by anaerobic microbes added, preventing a solid build-up. The sludge product formed in the Sludge Separator is a fine soft watery mixture and continues to be consumed by the anaerobic microbes. 2. Anoxic Zone Clarifier insert: Acts as anoxic zone to enhance Denitrification. 3. Main Reactor: The Main reactor is divided into two halves with the bottom half filled with bio-media to act as a larger anoxic zone. A cone shaped floor is moulded into the bottom floor of the main reactor to ensure no sludge build up underneath the Primary Aerobic Clarifier insert (B) intake. 4. Primary Aerobic Clarifier insert: Water mixture enters the main reactor filter into the Primary Aerobic Clarifier insert, from the bottom up. The cone shaped clarifier ensures that any fine solids still present sink down and settle out back into the main reactor. An aeration unit (1) is built into the Primary Aerobic Clarifier, creating a highly-aerated environment of the water content. The unit is powered by a 55W solar panel ensuring no electricity is needed. The aerobic microbes added to the reactor continuously consumes the very fine solids carried over from the Anoxic Zone Clarifier. 5. Sump Insert: The Sump insert s main purpose is to receive the treated water from the Primary Aerobic Clarifier insert. 6. Filter Housing insert: The Filter Housing insert is fitted with a removable Absorption filter (C). Water passes through the Absorption filter, where the filter medium in the Absorption filter removes phosphates, nitrates, heavy metals and other dissolved contaminants. Once in the Filter Housing insert, the filtered water is circulated through an Activated Ceramic filter unit (2), using a 55 Watt solar powered submersible pump. The filtered disinfected water is ready to be re-used for irrigation or reintroduced to the environment. The Filter Housing insert also has an overflow inserted to enable any excess clean filtered water to flow into the soakaway.

7. Activated Ceramics Technology Final Inline filter unit (2): The core of the activated ceramics disinfection system is the activated ceramics beads with super-germicidal surfaces. The activated ceramic beads have a consistency that resembles large sand particles, which provide final polishing disinfection through a unique and patented cation/electron exchange technology. Using a patented manufacturing process, the surface of the ceramic supports are coated with a single layer of titanium dioxide aggregates which are in turn coated with a single layer of silver aggregates. The layers give the ceramics very powerful surface properties, which in turn translates to high germicidal capacities. This accurate arrangement and combination produces an electronegative exchange, which causes the ceramic surface to have a dense positive charge (cations, e.g. electron acceptors). As microorganisms come into direct contact with the activated ceramics, the electrons inside the pathogens are irretrievably attracted by the positively charged surface. This causes the entire structure of the microorganisms to collapse on a molecular scale. 8. Model & Dimensions: Total Sewage (Black & Grey Water) Biozone Model Liters per day Black & Grey Water Combine d Number of people (based on 150 liters per person per day) Length Width Height Manhole Height Powe r (12V) Watts 1.6 TF TF TF Application: Where no municipal services available such as: Electricity, sewer or water. (Totally off-grid) Maintenance The Biozone Triple A s Maintenance required is very basic and can be performed by trained members of the establishment or community.

a) Minor service Flush 500 ml Biozone OdoGo NWTA Anaerobic biological additive down toilet once per 3 months or whenever a smell begins. b) Major service Replace Absorption filter and Ceramic Filter set once per year. c) De-sludge Once per year. 1. De-sludge can be performed with a small sludge pump fitted on a wheelbarrow (No Honey sucker necessary) 2. Sludge to be pumped into a container tank and moved to municipal sewer works for safe disposal (Tractor/donkey cart with tank) Sludge Disposal Due to the nature of the sludge formed in the Sludge Separator, it is very easy to pump. It is a pea soup like soft watery mixture and no hard crusts are formed. An ordinary small sludge pump is used, that can be fitted on a wheelbarrow to allow the operator to move into small places to where the reactors are installed. From there it can be pumped through a lay flat discharge hose (fire hose) to where the discharge container is placed. Disposing options: 1. Municipal sewer works 2. Dry beds build and fenced off 3. Mixing the sludge mixture with Waste Treatment Lime and buried in a 1.5-meter pre-dug trench Advantages Simple installation requirements No electricity required. Providing families with dignified water borne sanitation. Very basic maintenance required. Significant water saving. No handling and emptying dry system with hands and burning of dry faecal waste in gardens, as prescribed by dry systems. No contamination to the environment and scarce underground water resources.
