30 Research Output Data Web of Science Core Collection, which indexes over 12,000 key scholarly journals in the sciences, social sciences, arts, and humanities, was used. The search spanned the date range from January 2006 to December 2016, to determine the number of citations indexed from each country and included all languages. Credit is calculated by any author s listed affiliation with a country or Institution within that country. All authors and all listed affiliate countries per citation are credited equally. In order to limit the focus to contributions of research, rather than news, letters to the editor and other editorial materials the document type field was restricted to articles, notes, proceedings, and reviews.
