1 with SmartBUG Technoloy A ground-breaking biological treatment for remediation of petroleum hydrocarbons. is an innovative biological treatment for the degradation of petroleum hydrocarbons. The technique uses SmartBUG technology to accelerate the reduction of organic compounds found in petroleum products, to levels that are no longer harmful to the ecosystem. Unique to the industry are unique to the industry, from their production process to the way they are harvested. The enzymes are grown using a process called submerged fermentation. This involves growing carefully selected microorganisms (bacteria and fungi) in a closed looped vessel, which is rich in nutrients and high levels of oxygen. As the organisms break down the nutrients, they produce the desired enzymes and during this process, virgin petroleum is injected into the mix. The parameters of operation for temperature, ph, feed rate and oxygen consumption are measured and carefully controlled. No toxic by-products microbial population comes from naturally occurring organisms that have been specifically adapted in the laboratory to produce effective enzymes for each project. They are non-pathogenic, non-toxic and 100% biodegradable. This unique formulation was selected for its ability to degrade complex hydrocarbon molecules. The enzymes will continue to grow and flourish as long as environmental pollutants remain in the soil. The hydrocarbons are degraded and ultimately eliminated. The ecosystem is then in balance and the population of enzymes will recede to normal levels. In the end, no toxic by-products are left behind as is customary with some remediation techniques. Benefits include:.. Degradation of hydrocarbons.. Non-toxic Retains no by-products or residues. Bio-degrable Made from naturally occurring organisms specially adapted to produce enzymes that accelerate degradation * ** U.S. Patent Pending * Currently applying for Green Seal Certification ** Currently applying for EPA Design for the Environment Based out of: Abingdon, VA. 3 June's BioBugs Emergency spill control applications June's BioBugs can be applied through a variety of delivery systems from the basic hand held sprayer to advanced injection systems. Never use full strength product, always dilute with water. To calculate the amount needed it is best to first determine the amount of contaminant that was released and divide by a factor of 50 (ie. 500 gallons released equates to = 10 gallons of June's BioBugs)and mix with water at a rate of 12.0% (12.0 parts concentrate of June's BioBugs and 88 parts of water). Soil remediation Ex-situ and In-situ applications There are a great many variables to consider when remediating petroleum impacted soils. The following are some of the factors that affect bio-remediation: type of soil, concentration levels, type of contaminant, moisture, temperature and available oxygen level. All these factors determine the length of time necessary to remediate the contaminant. Based on these conditions, the remediation process may range from several months to several years. The following is a base starting point (1.50 gallons of June's BioBugs concentrate for every 22 tons of impacted soil or 10 yards. The concentrate is then diluted with water. A typical solution is (12 parts concentrate of June's BioBugs and 88 parts of water). Example: 100 cubic yards, you will need 15 gallons of concentrate. For the 12% solution you will add approximately 125 gallons of water (15.12 = 125). Once the solution is thoroughly mixed it can be applied using any type of spray system (hand sprayer or electric pumping system). For best results, mix the impacted soils during the application process by using any of the following methods (tilling or turning using a backhoe or excavator). During product application, always remember bio-remediation works best when the soil is moist, not soaking wet, and there is available oxygen. For In-situ applications, it is recommended that a customized solution be developed.
