2 Preface The 2013 International Conferences on Geological, Geographical, Aerospace and Earth Sciences (AeroEarth 2013), was held at the Swiss Bell Mangga Besar, Jakarta, Indonesia, on 23 December The AeroEarth conference aims to bring together researchers, engineers and scientists in the domain of interest from around the world. AeroEarth 2013 promotes interaction between the theoretical, experimental, and applied communities, so that high-level exchange is achieved in new and emerging areas within Earth Science. Through research and development, earth scientists have the power to preserve the planet s different resource domains by providing expert opinion and information about the forces which make life possible on Earth. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all in the Technical Program Committee who have reviewed the papers and developed a very interesting Conference Program as well as the invited and plenary speakers. This year, we received 91 papers and after rigorous review, 17 papers were accepted. The participants come from 8 countries. There are 3 (three) Plenary Sessions and two invited Speakers. It is an honour to present this volume of IOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science (EES) and we deeply thank the authors for their enthusiastic and high-grade contribution. Finally, we would like to thank the conference chairmen, the members of the steering committee, the organizing committee, the organizing secretariat and the financial support from the conference sponsors that allowed the success of AeroEarth The AeroEarth 2013 Proceedings Editors Dr. Ford Lumban Gaol Dr. Benfano Soewito Dr. Amit Desai Content from this work may be used under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 licence. 3 Keynote title: Modeling Animal Waste Pathogen Indicators Transport from Agriculture land to Streams Speaker: Pramod Pandey, Population Health and Reproduction Department, School of Veterinary Medicine, University of California, Davis, California 95616, USA Synopsis: The transport of animal waste pathogens from crop land to streams potentially elevates pathogen levels in stream water. Animal waste is commonly applied into crop land as fertilizers to enhance the nutrient levels of the crop land; however, manure application into the crop land causes pathogen problems in stream water. Elevated pathogen levels in ambient water result potential health risk to human. In order to control pathogen levels in ambient water bodies, improving understanding of pathogen transport from the crop land to water bodies at watershed scale is required. Here we investigate on pathogen indicators transport from the clop land receiving manure as fertilizers to streams. A watershed scale hydrological model was applied to estimate the transport of pathogens from crop land to streams. Extensive pathogen indicator monitoring at watershed scale was carried out to verify the model predictions. With certain assumptions, model results are reasonable. This study provides guidelines for model development capable of predicting pathogen/pathogen indicators to ambient water bodies. The proposed study will be helpful understanding the impacts of animal waste on ambient water quality. Keywords: watershed, hydrological model, pathogen indicator, animal waste, crop land About the Speaker: Pramod Pandey is working as a specialist in Population Health and Reproduction Department at University of California, Davis, USA. Currently his research focus is controlling microbial pollution of animal waste and mitigating public health risk. He has done extensive field scale and modeling research on understanding stream water quality, animal waste treatment, watershed hydrology, and renewable energy production from animal waste. He has developed models for improving water resources in rural communities of humid and arid regions. Pramod holds PhD in Agricultural Engineering from Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (ABE), Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa, USA. Dr Pramod has Graduate Certificate in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) from Department of Community and Regional Planning (CRP), Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa, USA and Master of Science (M.S.) in Agricultural Engineering from Department of Biological Systems Engineering (BSysE), Washington State University, Pullman, Washington, USA as well as Master of Technology (M.Tech.) in Aquaculture Engineering from Department of Agricultural and Food Engineering (AGFE), Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India. 2
