1 Pipelines at CORROSION 2009 March 22-26, 2009 Atlanta, Georgia, USA Georgia World Congress Center

2 Pipelines at CORROSION 2009 With corrosion costs for pipelines in the U.S. estimated at $7 billion annually, why would you go anywhere else for corrosion mitigation solutions? At CORROSION 2009 you will find: 120+ hours dedicated to papers, forums, symposia, and technical meetings focused on pipelines 350+ exhibiting companies 200+ books, standards, reports, and branded items at the NACE book store 5,000+ attendees from over 50 countries Here is a sample of the forums, symposia, and technical committee meetings that you will find at CORROSION Visit for a complete list! FORUMS Corrosion and Punishment 8:00 9:00 a.m. With the success of the last two years forums, we re bringing back John Clayton, Jackson & Walker, and Kevin Garrity, CC Technologies-a DNV Co., to discuss the legal issues surrounding pipeline failures. The recent corrosion-related pipeline failures have been highly visible in the news and now the U.S. Government is holding individual personnel including non-management technical personnel criminally responsible for ensuring safe operation of pipelines. In the PIPES Act, that responsibility is clearly placed on the senior leadership within operator companies. It is imperative that we begin thinking about the role of the corrosion professional in ensuring pipeline integrity and the potential liability. Front Page Issues Session 1: Zero Leaks Is this a reasonable goal? 2:00-3:30 p.m. Timothy C. Felt, President and Chief Executive Officer of Explorer Pipeline Co. in Tulsa, Oklahoma, will describe his vision of zero leaks for the oil and gas industry. Explorer owns and operates a 1,400-mile (2,254 km) products pipeline system transporting primarily gasoline, fuel oil, and jet fuel from Gulf Coast refineries as well as import facilities in Texas and Louisiana into the midwestern United States. Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration Forum Wednesday, March 25 2:00-3:30 p.m. Jeff Wiese, Associate Administrator for the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) Office of Pipeline Safety (OPS), will provide an update on the latest in pipeline regulations including casings, external corrosion direct assessment, internal corrosion, stress corrosion cracking, integrity management, and Operator Qualification. OPS will also provide an overview of its way forward with new pipeline regulations. This interactive session provides the opportunity to learn answers to your questions regarding these new regulations.

3 Cathodic Protection Tutorial Monday, March 23 2:00 6:00 p.m. Presented by Mike Placzek, Spectra Energy, this tutorial will cover measurement techniques and equipment commonly used for cathodic protection (CP). This introductory-level tutorial is recommended for new CP technicians with little or no experience, supervisors of CP technicians who need to be familiar with basic techniques, or others who would like a basic refresher. TECHNICAL SYMPOSIA Recent Advances in Pipeline Coatings Monday, March 23 10:15 a.m. - 4:10 p.m. Sponsored by STG 03 on Coatings and Linings, Protective: Immersion and Buried Service Symposium Chair: Sankara Papavinasam, CANMET Materials Technologies Lab.; Vice Chair: Gregory Ruschau, ExxonMobil Development Company This symposium contains papers focused on advances in coatings technology, advances in the understanding of field and laboratory performance of pipeline coatings, experience in the evaluation of coatings using above-ground and below-ground surveys, and prioritization of pipeline integrity management based on coating performance. Pipeline Integrity Monday, March 23 9:55 a.m. - 4:35 p.m. Symposium Chair: Chuck Harris, TD Williamson Inc.; Vice Chair: Joshua Johnson, US DOT PHMSA This symposium contains technical papers on pipeline integrity that include case studies, failure analysis, and research and development. Also included, are in-line inspection technology, pipeline defect characterization, pipeline repair technology, and damage prevention.
