1 Since 1988 Florida s Leading Engineering Source Environmental Geotechnical Construction Materials Testing Threshold and Special Inspections Plan Review & Code Compliance Mr. Richard H. Thompson, P.E. City of Fort Myers, Engineering Division 2200 Second St. Fort Myers, Florida September 7, 2018 RE: South Street Property: Organic Matter Sampling and Analysis 3348 South Street Fort Myers, Lee County, Florida FDEP ID: COM_ GFA Project No Dear Mr. Thompson: Per your request, GFA is please to provide this letter reporting the organic matter sampling and analysis performed at the reference project site. On August 31, 2018 GFA personnel collected samples of vegetative organic matter (grasses, weeds and leaves) and wooden organic matter (tree trunks) for laboratory analysis of Arsenic. 10 randomly selected locations at the project site were identified as areas to collect representative vegetative and wooden organic matter samples. Equal portions of organic matter was collected from each location into 1-gallon plastic bags. Vegetative matter was collected by using a clean knife blade to cut grass, weeds and leafy vegetation. After collecting vegetative matter at the 10 locations, the vegetative matter was composited and processed using a clean hand-held food processing blender, which fine cut and blended the vegetative matter into composite sample VGC-1. The wooden matter was collected by using a 1-inch wood bit or paddle bit, drilled approximated ¾-inch into the various tree trucks at the 10 sample locations. Tree wood cuttings and dust were collected into a 1-gallon plastic bag during drilling. After collecting wood shaving and dust at the 10 locations, the sample was thoroughly mix into composite sample TW-1. Organic matter samples were collected into laboratory supplied glass containers and immediately placed on wet-ice for transport under strict chain-of-custody to a NELAC accredited analytical laboratory for analysis of Arsenic following United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Method On September 6, 2018, GFA received the attached analytical laboratory report from Advanced Environmental Laboratories, Inc. (AEL). Arsenic was not detected in any the organic matter samples above the laboratory method detection limit of 0.10 mg/kg. The residential default exposure soil cleanup target level for Arsenic is 2.1 mg/kg, according to Chapter , F.A.C., Table II Country Lakes Drive Fort Myers, Florida (239) (239) (fax) DELRAY BEACH BOCA RATON FORT MYERS STUART ORLANDO JACKSONVILLE TAMPA MIAMI BELLE GLADE
