5 Palestine is located east of the Mediterranean coast and west of the Jordan River between latitudes of 31.2 to 32.5 o N and longitudes of 34.2 to 35.5 o E. Geographical location

6 AREA Land Area: 6,209 sq Km (PCBS, 2011) West Bank: 5,655 sq Km Gaza Strip: 365 sq Km Dead Sea: 189 sq Km More than 62% represent Area C Area A: The Palestinian Authority (PA) has full civil and security control, this area consists of the main cities of the West Bank (except Hebron). Area B: The PA has full civil control and the security is jointly controlled by the PA and Israel. Most Palestinian towns and villages are in Area B. Area C: is fully controlled by Israel and consists of a) all Israeli settlements and their access roads, b) buffer zones (adjacent to the settlements, roads, strategic areas and border areas), most of the Jordan valley and the eastern slopes.

14 One of our Partner to Achieve SDGs The Association of Palestinian Local Authorities (APLA) founded on June 19, 1997 in Jerusalem by a presidential decree. APLA has set out its role to link local municipalities with international ones,

15 Lobbying and advocacy on the central and legislative authorities. it works on the capacity building of the local authorities. General Assembly consist of all local authorities (416), and supervised by the Administrative Board comprised of 48 elected members by the General Assembly.

Supporting its members at individual and collective levels to carry out their tasks in a manner that serves the public good. Collecting and disseminating information related to the local authorities and conducting studies and researches that assist their development. Providing advisory services and technical assistance for all members to develop their performance and provision of public services so as to achieve the above-mentioned objectives.

18 Goal 11 Asira Interventions Goal 11: Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable Targets 11.1 By 2030, ensure access for all to adequate, safe and affordable housing and basic services and upgrade slums 11.2 By 2030, provide access to safe, affordable, accessible and sustainable transport systems for all, improving road safety, notably by expanding public transport, with special attention to the needs of those in vulnerable situations, women, children, persons with disabilities and older persons By 2030, enhance inclusive and sustainable urbanization and capacity for participatory, integrated and sustainable human settlement planning and management in all countries. Intervention Consultation with partners on-going to upgrade the Administrative law concerning the buildings and facilitate the procedures Advocacy work with partners at the National levels, and with the decisions makers The municipality excavate new roads for farmers and for vulnerable people to facilitate their access to their lands and their houses, and pave roads ( in the strategic plane). Intervention We are planing to do small project to recycle the municipal waste, and to initiate compost plant to recycle the organic waste. Some issues to be dealing with, like it is no sewarge network, (it is big concern). Transformation to Solar Energy. To reduce carbon emision 11.7 By 2030, provide universal access to safe, inclusive and accessible, green and public spaces, in particular for women and children, older persons and persons with disabilities. Intervention The municipalty prepared Development Plan withe consulting with partners to deal with this target by support and creat economic opportunities. 11.b By 2020, substantially increase the number of cities and human settlements adopting and implementing integrated policies and plans towards inclusion, resource efficiency, mitigation and adaptation to climate change, resilience to disasters, and develop and implement, in line with the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction , holistic disaster risk management at all levels.
