1 Revision date : 2006/08/18 Page: 1/6 1. Substance/preparation and company identification Company BASF CORPORATION 100 Campus Drive Florham Park, NJ 07932, USA 24 Hour Emergency Response Information CHEMTREC: BASF HOTLINE: HELP Chemical family: polyether, amine 2. Composition/information on ingredients CAS Number Content (W/W) Chemical name >= <= % alpha-(2-aminomethylethyl)-omega-(2-aminomethylethoxy)- poly(oxy(methyl-1,2-ethanediyl)) 3. Hazard identification Emergency overview WARNING: CORROSIVE LIQUID. CAUSES EYE BURNS. CAUSES SKIN IRRITATION. CAUSES RESPIRATORY TRACT IRRITATION. TOXIC BY INHALATION. Use with local exhaust ventilation. Wear a NIOSH-certified (or equivalent) organic vapour/particulate respirator. Wear NIOSH-certified chemical goggles. Wear protective clothing. Potential health effects Primary routes of exposure Routes of entry for solids and liquids include eye and skin contact, ingestion and inhalation. Routes of entry for gases include inhalation and eye contact. Skin contact may be a route of entry for liquified gases. 4. First-aid measures General advice: Remove contaminated clothing.

2 Revision date : 2006/08/18 Page: 2/6 If inhaled: Remove the affected individual into fresh air and keep the person calm. Immediate medical attention required. If on skin: Wash affected areas thoroughly with soap and water. If irritation develops, seek medical attention. If in eyes: Flush with copious amounts of water for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical attention. If swallowed: Rinse mouth and then drink plenty of water. Do not induce vomiting. Never induce vomiting or give anything by mouth if the victim is unconscious or having convulsions. Seek medical attention. 5. Fire-fighting measures Flash point: 124 C (DIN 51758) Autoignition: 240 C (DIN 51794) Lower explosion limit: 0.7 %(V) Upper explosion limit: 5.0 %(V) Suitable extinguishing media: water, dry extinguishing media, alcohol-resistant foam, carbon dioxide Protective equipment for fire-fighting: Firefighters should be equipped with self-contained breathing apparatus and turn-out gear. Further information: Collect contaminated extinguishing water separately, do not allow to reach sewage or effluent systems. NFPA Hazard codes: Health : 3 Fire: 1 Reactivity: 0 Special: 6. Accidental release measures Personal precautions: Avoid inhalation. Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and clothing. Environmental precautions: Do not empty into drains. Cleanup: Spills should be contained, solidified, and placed in suitable containers for disposal. Dispose of absorbed material in accordance with regulations. 7. Handling and storage Handling General advice: Ensure adequate ventilation. Protection against fire and explosion: Prevent electrostatic charge - sources of ignition should be kept well clear - fire extinguishers should be kept handy.

3 Revision date : 2006/08/18 Page: 3/6 Storage General advice: Keep container tightly closed in a cool, well-ventilated place. Storage incompatibility: General: Segregate from acids and acid forming substances. Temperature tolerance Protect from temperatures above: 60 C 8. Exposure controls and personal protection Advice on system design: Provide local exhaust ventilation to control vapours. Personal protective equipment Respiratory protection: Wear respiratory protection if ventilation is inadequate. Hand protection: Chemical resistant protective gloves Eye protection: Tightly fitting safety goggles (chemical goggles). General safety and hygiene measures: Eye wash fountains must be easily accessible. Wear protective clothing as necessary to prevent contact. 9. Physical and chemical properties Form: liquid Odour: amine-like Colour: colourless to yellow ph value: 11.3 ( 10 g/l, 20 C) Melting point: < -60 C Boiling point: > 200 C Vapour pressure: 1 mbar ( 20 C) Density: g/cm3 ( 20 C) Partitioning coefficient n octanol/water (log Pow): Viscosity, kinematic: 9.4 mm2/s ( 23 C) Solubility in water: ( 20 C) miscible Solubility (qualitative): soluble solvent(s): organic solvents, 10. Stability and reactivity Substances to avoid: acids Hazardous reactions: Evolution of heat under influence of acids.

4 Revision date : 2006/08/18 Page: 4/6 11. Toxicological information Acute toxicity Oral: LD50/rat: 2,855 mg/kg Moderately toxic. Dermal: LD50/rabbit: 2,980 mg/kg Literature data. Skin irritation: rabbit: Corrosive. Literature data. Eye irritation : As the product corrodes the skin, it can be expected to have a similar effect on the eyes also. Literature data. Sensitization: No sensitizing effect. Literature data. Chronic toxicity Other information: No experimental evidence available for genotoxicity in vitro (Ames test negative). Literature data. 12. Ecological information Environmental fate and transport Biodegradation: Test method: OECD 301 A (old version) Method of analysis: DOC reduction Degree of elimination: 0-10 % Evaluation: Poorly eliminated from water. Poorly biodegradable. Adsorbable organically-bound halogen (AOX): This product contains no organically-bound halogen. Environmental toxicity Acute and prolonged toxicity to fish: golden orfe/lc50 (96 h): > < 460 mg/l The product has not been tested. The statement has been derived from products of a similar structure and composition. Other ecotoxicological advice: Due to the ph-value of the product, neutralization is generally required before discharging sewage into treatment plants. The inhibition of the degradation activity of activated sludge is not anticipated when introduced to biological treatment plants in appropriate low concentrations. Do not release untreated into natural waters.
