3 WE KNOW WHAT GOES INTO OUR PRODUCTS Our philosophy is that all the raw materials we process have to be 100% fresh and virtually untreated. Over and above the legal requirements, we also consider criteria such as natural purity, eco-friendly production and the utmost safety. Every single one of our suppliers undergoes an approval process before we enter into a trusting partnership with them. Chemical, physical and microbiological tests and assessments are carried out for every raw ingredient supplied to us using state-of-the-art analytical equipment Every supplier undergoes an approval process consisting of extensive analyses. The scope of these checks depends on the origins of the raw material in question and current safety criteria Suppliers are only approved if widely recognised social standards are upheld when the raw materials are harvested. Compliance with such standards forms part of every supply contract We use a residue monitoring system. Our system of checks and our direct influence on production via commodity suppliers enable us to constantly reduce environmental contaminants We ensure that all the raw materials, packaging material and production data we handle are fully traceable as a matter of course WE ARE A POWERFUL MARKET PLAYER WITH 100 PER CENT QUALITY, SAFETY AND NATURAL PURITY We uphold the principles of truth and clarity to counteract any perception that we may wish to deceive consumers. We have made a voluntary commitment not to present our products using packaging which although legally permissible may be misleading for consumers. Continuous laboratory tests are also conducted at each stage of production as a matter of course in order to safeguard our high standards of quality. Our prime objective is to produce naturally pure food. We avoid nature-identical flavourings in all our recipes and constantly strive to reduce additives We have commissioned Faethe Labor GmbH with conducting extensive checks on our packaging material. Preventive tests are also carried out by other external laboratories, universities and wellrespected research bodies As we manufacture our own preforms, we also control the materials used for our packaging. This guarantees the utmost in constant quality and the optimum use of recyclate. By doing this, we enhance safety and conserve resources All quality assurance (QA) measures are organised by Faethe Labor GmbH. Our QA is integrated into certified IFS and BRC quality management systems Our fully qualified staff oversee and maintain these QM systems themselves. In addition to this, external commercial laboratories perform unannounced audits on our QA systems 4 5

4 WE HAVE THE RIGHT FILLER FOR EVERY PRODUCT WE CONSERVE RESOURCES AND REDUCE EMISSIONS BY TAKING MEANINGFUL STEPS TO PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT STUTE is a family-run company with a history spanning more than 120 years. This long tradition has always inspired us to continuously seek innovations and technical improvements. We have always been in a constant state of flux and consistently utilise the latest technologies. Since 2006 alone, we have invested some 100 million in modernising and extending our aseptic beverage capacities and local infrastructure. Our production structure focuses on bringing large quantities of fresh, high-quality produce to market quickly We stopped using cold disinfectants at a very early stage We are flexible and can fill products into PET or glass bottles, drinks cartons, cans and jars whatever our clients need In 2010, we took the pioneering step of commissioning two Contipure filling systems for EHF (enhanced hygienic filling). These systems disinfect preforms early on in the process in the Contiform blow moulder, making a subsequent rinser unnecessary Our large number of filling lines and ability to keep set-up times to a minimum reduce energy consumption and We recently drilled a well for mineral water enabling us to tap a new segment and further expand our product portfolio The average age of our PET systems is three years. This means our production is always state of the art and complies with the highest standards of quality STUTE started separating waste for recycling back in the mid-80s. Our system is now so sophisticated that waste products which would once have ended up in landfill are recycled as valuable materials. Thanks to our awareness of resources and our intelligent energy management, we have succeeded in driving our energy consumption down to below the level seen in recent years, despite a sharp increase in production volumes. Energy team: We have set up a special team dedicated primarily to optimising the use of steam, cold, electricity, natural gas and compressed air. We have already achieved our target of reducing energy use by some 20% Wastewater treatment plant: We have been purifying our own wastewater since 1997 and generating energy in the process by means of anaerobic wastewater treatment (generating biogas = energy gain). This technology is extremely eco-friendly and produces minimal CO 2 Biogas plant: Since 2009, we have been using and processing all the organic waste generated by the company at our own biogas plant without using maize, wheat or other food crops. This Regenerative energies: Our three wind turbines and 4,000 m 2 photovoltaic farm generate 18% of the electricity we need. An additional solar plant spanning 10,000 m 2 has been approved and is being installed. Our own wastewater treatment and biogas plants meet approx. 13% of our gas requirements. In the short term, we intend to double our regenerative energy production and increase it to 50% Vehicle fleet: We use energy-saving engines with AdBlue technology. This slashes of nitrogen oxides (90% reduction in NO x ). We are also constantly reducing the weight of our packaging, which conserves resources and cuts Steam technology: Our biogas is used solely to generate steam. The steam boilers are fitted with the latest generation of burners and attain an efficiency rating of 90%. This reduces and saves energy Cold store: Our older refrigerating plants have been replaced using the very latest technology. No greenhouse gases are used as refrigerants we use ammonia instead. Our annual electricity requirements have also fallen by 30% as a result conserves resources and reduces CO 2 6 7
