2 Approved Handler This product must be under the personal control of an approved handler when used by a commercial contractor Record Keeping Records of use, as described in relevant HSNO regulations and the New Zealand Standard for the Management of Agrichemicals (NZS8409), must be kept if more than 3kg is used within 24 hours. Health Effects MAY CAUSE SENSITISATION FROM PROLONGED SKIN CONTACT. Avoid contact with the skin. MAY CAUSE ORGAN DAMAGE FROM REPEATED ORAL EXPOSURE. Do not eat, drink or smoke while using. Remove protective clothing immediately after handling this product and wash hands and face before meals and after work Acute Swallowed: Single dose oral toxicity is very low (LD50 for rat is 8,200 mg/kg). Small amounts swallowed during normal handling operations unlikely to cause injury. Eye: Direct contact may cause irritation. Corneal injury is unlikely. Effects likely to heal readily. Skin: Prolonged or repeated exposure may cause skin irritation. Inhaled: Not regarded as a likely hazard. Chronic: Not specified. 4. First Aid Measures Swallowed: If swallowed do not induce vomiting. Call a doctor or National Poisons Centre. NEVER GIVE ANYTHING BY MOUTH TO AN UNCONSCIOUS PERSON Skin: Eye: Inhaled: Wash affected area with soap and water. Get medical attention if irritation persists. Remove contaminated clothing. Flush with plenty of water for 15 minutes. Get medical attention if irritation persists. Not a likely route of intoxication. For advice contact the National Poisons Centre 0800 POISON ( ) or a doctor immediately. Advice to Doctor If burn is present, treat as any thermal burn, after decontamination. No specific antidote. Supportive care. Treatment based on doctor s judgement in response to the reactions of the patient.

3 5. Fire Fighting Measures Fire/ explosion: For fire-fighting wear full protective clothing. Extinguish using water spray or chemical foam. VIGILANT will not support combustion treat the fire as for the other materials present. 6. Accidental Release Measures Spills and Disposal: Wear suitable protective clothing. Restrict access to contaminated areas. Contain the spill and recover the free liquid. Absorb remainder with sand, clay, sawdust or vermiculite. Avoid contamination with waterways or sewers. 7. Handling and Storage Packaging: 240 HDPE brush bottle {High Density Polyethylene brush bottle with lid], 1.8kg, and 20kg pail. Handling Apply using the applicator bottle or equipment suitable for spreading the gel evenly and avoiding contamination of applicator and surroundings. After using VIGILANT, wipe the equipment with a paper towel then wash with detergent. Dispose of cleaning water according to the Disposal instructions below (#13). Storage KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN Store in original container tightly closed and in a, dry, secure cool location within the temperature range of 5 30 C (to maintain gel consistency), away from foodstuffs. Keep out of the reach of children. Storage must be generally in accordance with The New Zealand Standard for the Management of Agrichemicals (NZS8409). Stores containing 100kg or more of this product require containment (bunding) and are subject to signage. See the Hazardous Substances Emergency Management and Identification Regulations and NZS8409 for further information. When stored appropriately, this product should show no significant degradation for 2 years from the date of manufacture. Contact your supplier for further information about the use of this product if it is older than this.

4 8. Exposure Controls / Personal Protection When applying wear waterproof gloves and overalls buttoned to the wrist. Spillage Exclude all bystanders, and prevent material from entering waterways. Wear appropriate protective clothing to clean up spills. Scrape up spilt material and place in waste containers. Wash area with water and detergent then absorb any remaining liquid with an inert material such as vermiculite, earth, sand or synthetic absorbent substance. Avoid contamination with waterways or sewers. Dispose of waste safely in an approved landfill. Report large spills to The New Zealand Institute for Plant & Food Research Limited, Phone 0800 Vigilant ( ). Clothing should consist of overalls with long sleeves and impervious gloves. 9. Toxicological Information Active Ingredient: VIGILANT contains a dilute (5%) level of the active ingredient, picloram as a potassium salt in a gel formulation Toxicity Information: Acute oral LD mg/kg 1 Acute dermal LD50 >4000 mg/kg 1 VIGILANT has a low toxicity (the higher the LD50 number, the lower the toxicity). As a comparison, the oral LD50 for glyphosate (Roundup) is 4320 mg/kg. VIGILANT has low toxicity to fish, birds, honey bees, livestock and aquatic organisms and it does not bioaccumulate in animal systems Ecological Information Ecotoxicity Data: VIGILANT has low toxicity to fish, birds, honey bees, livestock and aquatic organisms and does not bioaccumulate in animal systems. SELECTIVE HERBICIDE - VERY TOXIC TO SOME PLANT SPECIES. Some plants may be damaged or killed from contact with this product. Susceptible plants include but are not limited to: all brassicas, beans, flowers, fruit trees, legumes, lupins, ornamentals, potatoes, shade trees, squash, sunflowers, tomatoes, vegetables, or vine crops. Animal Safety Poisonous plants may become more palatable after treatment. If concerned that stock health may be affected, stock should be kept away from the treated plants until plants have died down. 13. Disposal Considerations Rinse empty container with detergent and dispose of rinse water onto ground away from susceptible crops & plants or drainage & waterways. Burn in an appropriate incinerator if circumstances such as wind direction permit. Otherwise crush or puncture and bury in a suitably approved landfill. The rinsed 240g applicator pack may be disposed of at an approved landfill or retained for refilling from 1.8kg or 20kg bulk containers.

6 Dispose of equipment cleaning water onto ground away from susceptible crops and plants. Dispose of this product only by using in accordance to the label or at an approved landfill. Do not dispose of this product; or equipment cleaning water down drains or sewers. 14. 7 16. Other Information Use: For the selective eradication of target weeds. Suitable for use in native bush, conservation areas, lifestyle blocks, farm bush convenants, gullies, reserves and parks.
