1 Explore one of Welsh Water s Discovery Centres Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water is a not-for-profit company. That means that every penny we make is reinvested in our company for the benefit of customers, their communities, and the environment around us. It also means that our focus isn t on serving shareholders, but to look after your water today and for future generations. That s why we are working with schools to encourage children to love and value water; for them to learn what they can do to help make our part of the world even better. Thousands of children visit our four education centres every year and have a truly unforgettable practical experience. Tour of Wastewater Treatment Works A really fun if slightly smelly! way of introducing children to how waste water is cleaned and why it s so important not to waste it.

2 Clean Water For All A trip to Africa in a day! A great way for children to experience what it s like to live in a Ugandan village. Plenty of role-play and hands on tasks. Our Changing Climate A perfect Eco Committee activity. Children look at the cause and effect of global warming with a particular focus on flooding. Pipes What No Habitat? A woodland adventure, looking for and identifying natures mini beasts. Then build a pipe network around the mini beasts you find! Recycling An interactive, fun activity based on Reduce, Reuse, Recycle in which the children investigate the impact of wasting water. History of Alwen Dam A perfect addition to a Victorian/Edwardian topic. Come and learn about Alwen Dam and how it was constructed over 100 years ago. Clean Energy Clean Earth What can we do to help our environment? This session looks at renewable energy sources and the challenges we all face in making our world more sustainable.

3 Water for Health A fun, practical way of demonstrating to children what goes into what they drink. Water Efficiency Scientific experiments, group discussions and fun, purposeful outdoor activities challenging children to think about their present and future uses of water.

4 Tour of Clean Water Treatment Works Ever wondered how we get clean water? A fun and interactive activity, that follows the course of the water from reservoir to tap. Orienteering Study Test the children s understanding of co-ordinates and map reading in a safe, enclosed setting. Great fun and good exercise! River Kick / River Study Catch and identify the creatures that inhabit our rivers and use a Biotic Index and conduct a hands on experiment to measure the flow of the river. Tour of the Dams and Reservoirs Including the chance to walk inside a dam. A Walk in the Valley Through woodlands or along the old railway line in a beautiful setting. Woodland Studies Including comparison of two woodland types. *Please note that not all activities are available at every Discovery Centre. Please see the grid to find out what sessions run where.
