15 Programme for the Younger Generation Junior Professional Officer The purpose of the JPO programme is not only to give young professionals an opportunity to gain work experience in an international environment, but also to provide the IAEA with additional expertise. The JPO works as a professional staff member as part of a team and under the guidance of a senior professional in either a scientific/technical or administrative field. Internship To provide interns with the opportunity to gain practical work experiences in line with their studies or interests, and expose them to the work of the Agency and the United Nations as a whole; To benefit the Agency's programmes through the assistance of qualified students specialized in various professional fields. 15
