1 Clean Air. It s what we do. Separation of industrial aerosols Smog-Hog and Mena a new dimension in filter technology

2 Clean air is important for your health Many industrial manufacturing processes emit pollutants that are released into the surrounding air. As aerosols, these pollutants in the form of mist, smoke and dust affect the health of your employees, the machines and production facilities you use as well as the quality of your products. Below a diameter of 2.5 µm, in particular, the protective mechanisms of the human respiratory tract are incapable to secrete these particles. In the case of hazardous substances, they can quickly lead to chronic respiratory tract or cardiovascular diseases. Based on our core technologies Smog-Hog electrostatic filter dedicated for oil mist, emulsions and plasticizers MENA mechanical filter dedicated for emulsions and polluting aerosols with low flash points a customized installation is created with low follow-up costs that reliably separates pollutants from the air. If requested, we will gladly take over the planning, from the basic product to the turn-key suction system. Your advantage: single-source engineering, equipment and piping planning, manufacturing, assembly and commissioning. We offer you a 2-year warranty on our equipment, regardless whether it is an individual workstation solution or central suction. More than 30 years of continuous development in cooperation with important committees such as the Association of German Engineers (VDI) and the Association of German Machine and Plant Construction (VDMA), plus our own research laboratories, lay the foundation for system solutions that guarantee you clean air as an essential production factor. If it s about separating industrial aerosols: Ask us we find the solution! You find our customers in these sectors: Chemical industry Metal working and processing Machine and plant construction Die casting industry Screw industry Plastic industry Forging Hardening shops Extruders Surface finishing Tool machine manufacturers and operators and many more... 3 SMOG-HOG - electrostatic air filters Separation of oil mist, oil smoke, Plasticizer vapors and emulsion mist the comprehensive solution The Smog-Hog SHN/SG Series is our solution to oil smoke and coolant mist problems in the industrial work area. With an established name in the industry, our Smog-Hog brand electrostatic precipitators (ESP) are engineered to perform long-term, heavy-duty industrial air cleaning and are one of the most effective ways to collect oily, wet contaminants that are a result of many metalworking processes. Smog-Hog mist collectors require no disposable filters, but instead use an ionizer to charge contaminants and a collection cell to remove them from the air stream. By electronically charging both large and microscopic contaminants, these systems capture impurities like a magnet in the collection cells. At the same time, recyclable coolants and oil are collected for reuse, and safe, breathable air is discharged back into the workplace. Investing in a Smog-Hog Filter can improve your company s profitability by reducing both your energy and housekeeping costs. These systems recirculate air into your plant and reduce exhaust air make-up requirements up to 80%. And thousands of litres of valuable resources such as cutting oils, lubricants, coolants and plasticizers are recycled each year by customers who have installed Smog-Hog Filter units. Airflow capacities range up to m 3 /h, depending on system size and configuration. 5 MENA mechanical coalescence filters Separation of emulsion mist and aerosols with low flash points the compact solution Aerosol-loaded air (mist) is guided through a porous fiber package, where oil and dirt particles 'statistically' strike filter fibers and remain trapped there due to an adhesive force in a first step, forming droplets. The droplets form larger drops with existing ones thereby reducing the surface (i.e. they coalesce) and drain. The MENA filters are made from a special synthetic fiber with hydrophobic properties, a self-cleaning capability owing to its coalescence properties and its resilience with high pollutant concentrations make it the ideal filter media for this application. Thanks to the compact, modular construction the system has a 4-stage design and can be mounted on a machine or console: A pre-filter removes aerosol particles > 2 µm as well as dust and chips (metal mesh wire) The first coalescence filter of efficiency class F5 according to EN 779 removes aerosol particles from 0.6 µm to 3 µm The second coalescence filter of efficiency class F9 according to EN 779 removes aerosol particles < 0.8 µm Finally, the HEPA H13 filter acting merely as 'police filter' - separates the very small amounts of remaining particles. Emulsion mist Airflow direction how MENA works: Filter fibers Droplets strike and adhere form larger droplets (coalesce) drain The illustration shows a mechanical coalescence filter (Mena) The filter design has a good serviceable life and long maintenance intervals because every filter stage takes over a specific particle spectrum section. Likewise, the clean gas-side concentration of pollutants remaining as aerosols is therefore below 1 mg/m 3 even under high pollutant concentrations. The light construction design of the filter elements makes them easy to maintain. In addition, a galvanized metal frame provides hygienic advantages compared to the otherwise conventional wood, MDF or carton frames. Besides separation of emulsions, MENA systems are especially suitable for separating low flame point pollutants such as petroleum, non-conductors, paraffins, cleaners in industrial washing machines or solvents.
