What you will learn in this lesson IN THIS LESSON, YOU WILL LEARN... AdvanTex satisfies the nitrate-nitrogen reduction requirement AdvanTex effluent can be input as 20 mg/l for hydrogeologic models The training requirements for SEO s who permit AdvanTex The requirement for AdvanTex being used as a nitrogen-reducing system UNIT 6-1

Orenco AdvanTex Listing V.a NITRATE-NITROGEN REDUCTION AdvanTex satisfies the nitrate-nitrogen reduction requirement conditions specifi ed in certain DEP planning module approval letters AdvanTex has been shown in PA field testing to achieve less than 20 mg/l Total Nitrogen Septic Tank E f fl u e n t Recirculation Tank Blend Filtered E f fl u e n t UNIT 6-2

Orenco AdvanTex Listing V.b NITROGEN MODELS FOR ADVANTEX INPUT If a hydrogeologic evaluation is required... AdvanTex effluent can be input to the nitrogen model as 20 mg/l Other treatment systems must enter the model with 45 mg/l AdvanTex is a nitrogen reducing treatment system Stream impacted by nutrients Drip irrigation and nutrient reuse UNIT 6-3

AdvanTex Required in Some Cases DEP may require AdvanTex for nitrogen reduction for some projects where there are stringent nitrogen limits The AdvanTex wastewater treatment system has been PA TVP tested and shown to meet nitrogen-reduction requirements AdvanTex pod with lid open UNIT 6-4

Orenco AdvanTex Listing IV.a TRAINING REQUIREMENTS An SEO who has completed the DEP-sponsored and DEPapproved training on this specific technology may independently review the design and issue the permit When the AdvanTex is used for the specific purposes of reducing total nitrogen (TN), The SEO may only issue permits for residential dwellings. All other proposals must be submitted to the DEP for review and comment UNIT 6-5

Orenco AdvanTex Listing IV.b and IV.d USE OF ADVANTEX IN AREAS OF ELEVATED NITRATE-NITROGEN IN THE GROUNDWATER DEP MAY REQUIRE THE PERMITTING AND USE OF THE PROPOSED ADVANTEX TECHNOLOGY AS A CONDITION FOR APPROVAL OF THAT PROJECT SEOs will receive notification from DEP that the sewage planning module for the planned subdivision requires the use of a nitrogen-reducing onlot treatment system. The SEO is required to include in the permit any additional conditions specifi ed in the DEP sewage planning approval letter. This includes, but is not limited to, the use of the AdvanTex Treatment System, operation and maintenance requirements, and a service contract with a qualified service provider. The permitting authority must verify whether a DEP sewage facilities planning approval letter condition exists which requires the lot(s) to be permitted with the AdvanTex Treatment System. AdvanTex AX20N System UNIT 6-6

Orenco AdvanTex Listing IV.c ACT 537 VIOLATION Issuing onlot sewage system permits that are inconsistent with the conditions specifi ed in the planning approval letter is considered a violation of Act 537. UNIT 6-7

Lesson Summary IN THIS LESSON, YOU LEARNED... The AdvanTex Treatment System satisfies the nitrate-nitrogen reduction requirement AdvanTex effluent can be input as 20 mg/l for hydrogeologic models The training requirements needed for an SEO to independently permit an AdvanTex Treatment System Upon notification from DEP, the SEO will be required to comply with the conditions specified in the planning approval letter prior to issuance of the permit for the on-lot sewage treatment system UNIT 6-8
