BIOGAS TRENDS INFRASTRUCTURE AND TRANSPORTATION Michael Stie Laugesen Head of Planning, Energy and Transportation Unit NTU ApS Nordic Biogas Conference September 7-9th 2016

FDT The Association of Danish Transport and Logistics Centres Working with added value services in the seven Danish Transport and Logistics Centres (Transport clusters) Alternative fuels Secure Rest Places Combined Rail Terminals City Logistics Solutions External Funding NTU manages the secretariat function of FDT

Aim of The project is funded by the Interreg ÖKS program and consist of 24 activities, which focuses on the whole biogas value chain including biogas production, upgrading, distribution and utilisation. The results of the project should lead to investments in biogas facilities and result in further uptake of biogas solutions. This should be achieved through: Set-up of a Scandinavian Biogas Platform, connecting cross-sector biogas clusters, thus creating an overarching vision for biogas in Scandinavia, with a view to setting up transnational and national goals, while being able to affect the political dialogue and the market concerning biogas. Development of new techniques, tools, methods, concepts and business models Increase the utilisation of biogas, especially in the transportation sector

Impact Together, the 33 partners from the Öresund-Kattegat-Skagerrak region, will create the foundation for public and private investments of up to 100 MEUR in renewable energy (biogas solutions), while creating new green jobs during a 10 year period.

Why is the transportation market of interest? EU White Paper for Transport - Roadmap to a Single European Transport Area Towards a competitive and resource efficient transport system Goals for a competitive and resource efficient transport system; benchmarks for achieving the 60% GHG emission reduction target compared to 1990 levels. Halve the use of conventionally-fuelled cars in urban transport by 2030 Phase them out in cities by 2050; Achieve essentially CO2-free city logistics in major urban centres by COM (2011) 144 Final

First Mover Potentials for more First-movers FDT can provide financial support to the purchase of new biogasdriven heavy vehicles. (Up to 40% of the extra costs in relation to the purchase) The transport company Frode Laursen is the first private company to receive funding for a heavy vehicle through the Danish Energy Agency programme Please contact FDT or via fdt@ntu.eu if interested in this funding.

NORDIC LIQUEFACTION: LBG FOR TRUCKS, BUSSES AND SHIPS Liquefying Biogas in Frederikshavn, Denmark Plant directly connected to the Danish gas grid. Production 300 tons of LBG per day.
