2 Role definition Role purpose The Head of Digital Transformation Programme Delivery will be responsible for moving the Digital Transformational Strategy from conception to reality. Working as a catalyst to bring the strategy to life allowing Christian Aid to tackle the digital future, this role will oversee the implementation of the programme, based on the agreed strategy. The post holder will influence at a senior level across the organisation to ensure the objectives of the programme are being met and organisational change is embedded. Role context Christian Aid is on a journey: transforming the way we use digital tools and skills for maximum impact in our work and in the world. Digital technology is already a key part of everything we do and the Digital Transformation programme aims help to the whole organisation to grow in digital confidence and curiosity. It brings together skills, tools and activities already within the organisation so that we can amplify insights, work more effectively together, learn from each other, as well as introducing and encouraging new approaches, technologies and habits. This role will be based within the Strategy and People Management department, but will be working closely with the Directorate and their departments to initiate and monitor projects, advise on direction, pace and resourcing, as well as develop context-and-location-sensitive content and techniques which will be most effective in helping staff to understand, adopt and act. Key outcomes The recommendations of the Digital Transformation Report have been delivered and embedded within the agreed timeframes resulting in Christian Aid being structurally and culturally fit for a digital future Clear delivery plan and key milestones developed and delivered through relevant stakeholders Digital Transformation Strategy and Working Groups established and met agreed objectives Regular reports made to Directorate/Digital Transformation Programme Board on progress Influenced and acting as a catalyst amongst key stakeholders to deliver objectives on time Role requirements Relationships External Working with other INGOs and external bodies where appropriate to learn from and influence the wider digital agenda on behalf of Christian Aid 2

3 Internal Working at a senior level to influence across all parts of the organisation to gather momentum for the approach and to ensure objectives are met. Key stakeholders will include all senior managers within SMG. This role will need to work closely with all functional heads including Heads of Departments, Strategic Business Development Partners and Head of ICT. Decision making They will have authority to oversee and manage the implementation of the Corporate Digital Transformation Programme. Translating strategy into operational reality. Delivery plan in place, but this role has authority to decide appropriate pace, stakeholder involvement, measurement and metrics required to deliver the strategy. Authority and Accountability for this role is held by the Directorate/ Digital Transformation Programme Board. Analytical skills Responsible for the implementation of a complex organisation wide initiative. Requiring an ability to continually analyse the current context, people and progress of the programme and adapting the plan accordingly. Devising creative, human centred solutions and problem solving to ensure objectives are met through available resources. This will require a responsive understanding of Christian Aid, its leadership, its culture, and its operations. Developing self and others Self-managed and proactive, responsible for creating and maintaining momentum for the Digital Transformation Programme s implementation. Authority to adapt the plan within the parameters of the Digital Transformation Strategy. Influencing indirectly but effectively across all teams using specialist skills including but not exclusively, change management, culture change, project management and agile working. 3

4 Person specification Applied skills/knowledge and expertise Essential Proven experience of managing similar large scale digital change programmes across a variety of organisations Knowledge of project management methodologies (SCRUM, Prince2, PMP etc) Ability to inspire a vision and purpose for the organisation. Experience of leading and managing change, building trust, handling conflict creatively. Proven experience of strategic thinking and leadership and of building internal stakeholder relationships and outstanding partnership working. Fully understands possibilities and challenges of digital approaches and agile technologies, able to conceptualise and converse with technical experts to communicate effectively and achieve results Exceptional written and spoken communication Experience of influencing and negotiating at a senior level Experience of working across large, complex and multi-departmental organisations A personable, natural networker who brings people with them with the ability to inspire and create momentum Quickly able to understand how the organisation works and adapt working style to meet those needs whilst also challenging assumptions Open minded proactive approach to working Desirable Experience of the Not for Profit/Charity sector Evidence of implementation of culture change programmes IT competency required Intermediate rising to expert where appropriate for the role such as MS Project or similar 4
