1 UNVRSTY OF LNCOLN JOB SCRPTON Human Resources JOB TTL: nternational Officer (ndia and Middle ast) PRTMNT: nternational LOCTON: Brayford Campus RPORTS TO: nternational Operations Manager GR: 6 POST NUMBR: NT004 T: pril 2012 Context The nternational Officer will work as part of a team whose primary responsibility is the recruitment of full-time international students to the University. The successful candidate will have a specific regional focus, but will also be expected to contribute across the full range of the team s activities. Overseas travel and attendance at education exhibitions overseas will be an important part of this position and a flexible approach to working patterns is therefore required. The post holder will be responsible for maintaining links with international partners and specifically will support recently developed special partnerships e.g. Study Group UK and Trivedi Consultants in ndia. The post holder will also support the nternational Office team with planning for events where the nternational Office profile with external partners and VP contacts, and the external profile of the University are to be advanced. The nternational Office is the main point of contact for prospective and newly arrived international students, and the post holder will assist the team in its recruitment, welcome and support of these students and other VP visitors too. Job Purpose To support the implementation of the University s nternationalisation Plan and the achievement of international student recruitment targets from specified markets. To lead the planning and co-ordination of international student recruitment activities and manage relationships with agent and University partners. To contribute to the development of an attractive programme portfolio that is fit for purpose in designated markets. To review of existing international partnerships and in consultation with academic colleagues initiate the development of new University partnerships. dvise the irector of market research and intelligence on specified markets including reporting on market conditions, competitor activity, and customer behaviour in specified markets. 2 Key Responsibility 1 Planning & Organising Resources To develop operational plans for discussion with senior colleagues for the University s recruitment activities in specified markets. Oversee the development and maintenance of a forward calendar of recruitment activities aimed at developing markets into a more significant market in terms of recruitment numbers achieved. ctively engage academic colleagues in these activities. To provide market intelligence to support the development of new programmes and partnerships. To keep up to date with external changes affecting markets and update the irector and Operations Manager of the nternational Office appropriately. To manage and develop the network of overseas agents in designated markets by setting and monitoring targets and providing them with training that is in accordance with University policy. Key Responsibility 2 Partnership and Programme evelopment ctivity To review the current international partnerships register and recommend for improvement in consultation with colleagues in Quality Office and members of nternational Committee. To facilitate international partnership development activity with active networking amongst the academic community and with potential university partners overseas. To review of the existing programme portfolio in consultation with academic colleagues and the University s Quality Office. To suggest development of new programmes that are attractive to niche markets. To assist in the development of new programme developments by designing and hosting workshops for academic colleagues. Recruitment ctivity Key Responsibility 3 To lead international recruitment activities, including profile-raising visits to educational institutions and relevant recruitment exhibitions. Respond to international student enquiries in a timely, friendly, consistent and accurate manner, including , telephone, SMS etc, investigating or using initiative where the immediate answer is not always available or in complex issues e.g. visa applications. dvise potential students in specified markets and their key influencers on study options, fees and funding, application procedures, accommodation etc or refer them to the University s appropriate specialist information source in a timely manner. 3 evise and deliver relevant and targeted presentations, seminars and workshops to partner institutions, potential students, parents, agents or teachers. Provide market information and support to Faculties in their international recruitment activities for the niche markets and liaise with Student Services and other relevant service departments over the requirements of students from specific countries.. Support and manage our recruitment consultants, Trivedi through the provision of agent visits, training sessions, university presentations, spot admissions and regular meetings etc to ensure they provide an effective, reliable and good quality of admissions service to students and our incountry agent network. Providing support and in-country training to appointed overseas representatives, ensuring they are kept abreast of key developments and close working relationships are maintained at all times. Communications Key Responsibility 4 Contribute to the development of the Recruitment and Marketing Strategy and the development of country specific operations plan(s). Responsibility for a high level of academic engagement that will improve the University s approach to international partnership activities. Responsibility for development and coordination of profile-raising advertising/pr campaigns in designated markets. Responsibility for coordination and development and management of CRM and conversion campaigns for prospective international students. To develop marketing materials that will generate applications and enrolments from designated markets. Responsible for the coordination of the University s presence in relevant external directories (print and online) and ensure that it is fit for purpose. Liaison and Networking Key Responsibility 5 To work closely with school and college staff including Pro Vice Chancellors (PVC s), eans, Marketing and ntelligence Recruitment Officers (MROs) and academic staff to manage the involvement of academics in international partnership developments and student recruitment activities for the development of markets. To act as nternational Office link person for Study Group partnership and ensure market intelligence on markets is shared. Where possible plan a full calendar of recruitment activities in consultation with this partner, to drive-up the volume of quality applications and total numbers of enrolments to the University. 4 To network with external organisations and individuals such as The British Council, British Universities' nternational Liaison ssociation (BUL), UK Council for nternational Student ffairs (UKCS), High Commissions/mbassies etc to keep up to date on relevant issues within international recruitment. To work closely with other departments within the University such as cademic Registry, Students Services and ccommodation to ensure university procedures provide the best customer service for international applicants. n addition, undertake such duties as may reasonably be requested and that are commensurate with the nature and grade of the post. TONL NFORMTON Scope & imensions of The Role The postholder will: The post holder will be able to work under their own initiative as well as part of a dedicated team. The post holder will be able to demonstrate a methodical approach nternational student recruitment, projects, market research and relationship management to ensure effective delivery of recruitment targets. The post holder will be able to deal student enquiries, suppliers and stakeholders and able to use their initiative to ensure that opportunities and risks are managed appropriately, quickly and efficiently. The allocation of responsibility of regional markets may change from time to time at the discretion of the irector of the nternational Office and therefore flexibility will be required.
