2 Position Summary and Requirements The Health & Fitness Instructor must possess a genuine desire to encourage and support members to achieve their health and fitness goals. The instructor is relied upon to motivate, educate and enhance each member s experience. Through developing a rapport with members, the Health & Fitness Instructor fosters a commitment to their improved health and wellbeing. Key Accountabilities Key Tasks Measures Health & Fitness Work as a team member to provide the very best health and fitness advice through consultation in a friendly atmosphere Conduct safe, appropriate and effective programs that are within your scope of practice Adhere stringently to all work instructions involving procedures for conducting programs Supervision of all Health Club users, providing technical advice, support and encouragement Ensure all Health Club users are conforming to Health Club etiquette guidelines General cleaning and tidying of Health Club and areas associated with your work area Cleaning and Maintenance of Health Club equipment Perform tasks set by the Health Club supervisor; complete the applicable checklists accordingly Assist with member retention and marketing strategies Maintain open and effective communication with team leaders, other instructors and management Participate in special events, e.g. master classes, in-house workshops, Open Day, as part of the Centre s promotions Be responsible for maintaining registration with Fitness Australia at own cost Respond to all in-house communication, as quickly and efficiently as possible If unable to conduct a shift, contact the Health and Fitness Coordinator Maintain a clean, tidy and professional appearance and wear appropriate clothing Foster a sense of belonging and support to the Health Complete daily checklists Quality & number of program suggestions made. As determined by Health and Fitness supervisor 70% appointment occupancy on gym floor shifts Personal KPI s reached or exceeded every month Quality and amount of positive feedback provided from members and guests. As determined by the Health and Fitness Coordinator Attend at least 90% of monthly training sessions Read and acknowledge all internal communications and procedures within 48 hours Incident reports completed as per the YMCA incident management policy Punctual to commencement of shifts

3 Club team and Centre by your own involvement Provide support to the Health and Fitness supervisor and other Centre staff Possess sufficient knowledge and experience to perform the additional duties at this classification Attend Health & Fitness meetings and staff training as required Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for the health and safety of others Co-operate with YMCA South Australia with respect to legislative Work Health and Safety requirements Flexible to work early mornings, evenings and weekends Perform Centre specific duties as required Essential Requirements You will be required to: Understand and work within the guidelines of the YMCA South Australia - Safeguarding Children / Young People and other Vulnerable People Policy Familiarise yourself with all policies, procedures, work practices, and maintain currency of knowledge in relation to Work Health and Safety Take responsibility for own observance of safe work practices and safe work environment and undertake no actions or omissions, which will adversely affect the health and safety of other persons Conform to all reasonable instructions or policies given by management in relation to work, health and safety Cooperate with YMCA South Australia with respect to legislative work health and safety requirements and relevant YMCA Health and Safety Policies Be responsible and accountable for adhering to the requirements of the Equal Opportunity Act Providing an inclusive workplace environment through adherence to the YMCA s Access and Inclusion Policy Inform your Manager of any issues or concerns that may affect your ability to safely perform your role in order to enable the YMCA to meet its obligations for providing a healthy and safe working environment for all employees Key Relationships Position Reports to: Health & Fitness Director Direct Reports: N/A Key Internal Relationships: Key External Relationships: Centre Leadership Team Allied Health staff Group Fitness Instructors Members & Guests Community Groups
