3 Job Title: ICT Technician JOB DESCRIPTION Responsible to: New Technologies Manager / Support Staff Leader / Executive Principal Responsible for: N/A Job Purpose: To support the New Technologies Manager to manage and ensure efficient running of both curriculum and administrative computer networks. To assist in the development of ICT as part of the overall school resources. To assist the New Technologies Manager in the planning, development and monitoring of ICT within the school, keeping the school at the forefront of IT. Salary Hours: Grade 3 SCP ,481 to 17,547 per annum 37 hours per week Full Time 8.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30 am to 4.00pm Friday with 30 minutes for lunch each day. Main Duties and Responsibilities Strategic Planning To support the New Technologies Manager in medium and long term co-ordinated planning based on the schools educational objectives to keep the school up to date with developments in ICT and Computer Science. Support the New Technologies Manager to plan for major developments of the ICT service and help project manage their implementation. In conjunction with the New Technologies Manager, help develop ICT strategically within the school to achieve a safe and efficient ICT environment for staff and students. Work with the New Technologies Manager supporting the full range of financial planning for ICT, through the identification, planning and costing of all future developments and upgrades to achieve best value for the school. Including a detailed 3 yearly plan of upgrades needed with approximate costing. Work with the New Technologies Manager helping to monitor and review the types and amounts of system use. Manage bookable resources (eg Meraki management, portal set up, laptops, ipads, and digital cameras). Including; Checking on a daily basis that resources are in good working order with adequate battery life. Checking resource online booking and delivering resources to teacher / classroom. Ensuring all resources are accounted for at the end of each week. Attend relevant meetings where the ICT service are discussed and input is required. Work with other technicians across the MAC sharing good practice and attending termly meetings. Resource Management Follow support priorities as set by the New Technologies Manager, balancing response to support requests with the need to follow planned monitoring and maintenance, in the context of staff availability and wider ICT service demands, Including;

4 A room checker sheet for all rooms (including meeting rooms, inclusion and dining room), signed daily when rooms are checked for the following All computers are working All keyboards and mice are attached and working Printers working with toner Interactive whiteboards are aligned (weekly) Projectors working correctly aligned on the appropriate board Remote available with batteries working Support the New Technologies Manager to achieve best value for the schools ICT expenditure. Support the New Technologies Manager in ordering, stocking and replenishing ICT consumables. Ensure that legal and contractual obligations relating to ICT resources, software licensing, systems and services are met. Support the New Technologies Manager to implement the installation of all new computer software as required, enabling the delivery of ICT to all operational areas. Support the New Technologies Manager with the school policy on asset disposal. Liaise with external engineers with regards external contracts as directed by the New Technologies Manager. Development and Maintenance of Technical Systems Ensure all school ICT systems are fully operational at all times. Support the New Technologies Manager on the implementation of ICT policies and procedures. To support the New Technologies Manager to help develop and maintain a three year ICT development plan for the school. Monitor and review school procedures for managing and recording installations and configuration changes. Oversee school printing solutions. Managing the allocation of User Space/Printer Credits if appropriate Support the New Technologies Manager to help implement the schools security and back-up systems and plan disaster recovery contingencies to enable an efficient return of service after any unforeseen system outages. Support the New Technologies Manager to help implement and maintain the schools Anti-Virus system. Support the New Technologies Manager with the maintenance of the schools growing network including computers. Support the New Technologies Manager with the management of software technologies. Support the New Technologies Manager with internet access filtering, filtering and related monitoring systems. Manage school plasma machines ensuring that updates are daily. Including; Regular (at least weekly) contact with Heads of Departments, Heads of Years and SLT for updates for the following day for plasma screens around the school. Plasma screen in reception update daily with important briefing items and news generated the Friday newsletter. Staff room plasma screen to be updated with information for staff Upgrading of relevant systems. Upgrades to be carried out outside of normal school hours to ensure minimum downtime for staff during critical periods. Support the New Technologies Manager in maintaining the schools computer inventory. To undertake an annual check of the inventory and report on the results to the New Technologies Manager, ensuring the school is appropriately insured for this equipment.

5 Developing the expertise of others in emerging technologies Help the New Technologies Manager conduct training on appropriate use of ICT resources; document systems and procedures. Support the setup of ICT for assemblies Support staff and students with ICT related problems. Including; Checking on all departments weekly for staff to raise technical issues impacting on their role. Contacting form tutors and students to raise any technical issues that may have impact on their teaching and learning. Run a lunchtime drop in technical support clinic for students and staff (currently in C ). Produce reports each half term on support requests for management purposes; advise the New Technologies Manager and Support Staff Leader on possible training activities based on support log analysis. To keep abreast of developments in the field of ICT and Computer Science and undertake research as appropriate. To advise the New Technologies Manager on emerging technologies and their applicability to the school. Support and deliver sessions to students on technical and networking parts of the curriculum General To provide first line support to staff, students and parents using any Saint Augustine s IT system To ensure the school s IT problems and queries are dealt with promptly and effectively using the IT Support ticket system Assist with the maintenance of the schools website and social media accounts ensuring the ongoing promotion of the school To work collaboratively with suppliers, external support providers and the County to achieve the agreed aims of the school. To support at all times the Catholic ethos of the school. To contribute to the ethos of the school, in all areas of contact and responsibility, in relationships with staff and students To be First Aid trained. To undertake such other duties, training and / or hours of work as may be reasonably required and which are consistent within the general level of responsibility of this post. Other duties as may be determined from time to time within the general scope of the post. Duties and responsibilities outside of the post will only be required with the agreement of the post holder To participate fully in the schools performance management process.
