2 Aim and Objectives To provide an outline of best practice in (nonmedical) prescribing and an overview of recent research into prescribing. To enable safe practice through up to date knowledge and group learning. To provide an update on national and local guidance including the new competencies, and on legislative changes. Linking this with tools and techniques for developing practice and Continued Professional Development. Care Right Now

3 Aim and Objectives Learning objectives: 1. To be able to describe the latest alerts, and changes to policies & legislation, and asses their impact on practice including: 2. In appraisals 3. In demonstrating areas of competency 4. Preparing for revalidation 5. To learn additional ways to enable effective Peer Supervision and team learning, and make outline plans for this 6. To have access to trusted resources, including those from the NICE Medicines and Prescribing Centre. With the option to nominate NICE Medicines and Prescribing Centre Affiliates. 7. To be able to discuss NMP Audits and make plans to manage these effectively, taking into account work pressures and other responsibilities 8. To be able to explain the relevance and importance of e-pact data, and use this to benefit patients and the service 9. To discuss existing audits and have input into new developments 10. 4 Report of the Non-medical Prescribing Survey Survey conducted January 2015 Areas for development identified in 2012 survey and highlighted from 2015 survey : Of the 62 and 77 NMP staff who responded to the survey in 2012 / 2015: 10% of NMP s are currently not prescribing within their current role this increased to 15% in % of NMP s do not receive their e-pact data on a regular basis in 2012, this increased to 28% in % of NMP s do not receive regular drug alerts and NPSA alerts, this fell to 9% in % of NMP s in 2012 do not discuss their prescribing practices as part of their line management supervision on a regular basis currently, this fell to 21% in % of NMP s currently do not have a competency framework completed, this reduced to 31% in Care Right Now
