After a career in the Royal Navy as a Navigation and Air Direction Officer, Paul spent 22 years as an emergency planning and security manager, providing strategic direction, effective plans and procedures, acting as a single focal contact for key stakeholders. Paul also acted for many years as the trusted contact for government and other security agencies and holds a current security clearance. As well as conducting countless company exercises, Paul has led multi agency exercises and has been part of for-real disasters that have included contamination, severe flooding, fire and security incidents. Paul was the Chair of the Water UK Emergency & Security Network and part of the team that delivered annual the annual Water Emergency & Security course. 4 Agenda DAY 2 EXERCISE DEBRIEF: MANAGING A MAJOR POWER OUTAGE The second day of the training is built around an interactive hands-on scenario analysis in which participants are confronted with a major outage. The Scenario: This case study will be specifically customised based on your feedback and preferences A large city is threatened by a severe weather event that is forecasted to produce heavy conditions. Two of the city power company s major assets the local power station and the nearby sub-station that distributes power to both the city and the surrounding areas are threatened. In this highly interactive environment participants will apply their skills and lessons learned to structure emergency actions to prevent risks and damages as well as develop alternative plans to prepare for various emergency scenarios.
