1 Working towards a safer workplace South Cumbria and North Lancashire District, and Manchester North West Branch Seminar Organised in association with South Cumbria Occupational Health and Safety Group 15 October 2015 Netherwood Hotel, Lindale Road, Grange-over-Sands, Cumbria, LA11 6ET

2 Working towards a safer workplace HSE RIDDOR accident investigations have shown that organisations need to develop management strategies where employees are encouraged to adopt a proactive workplace culture and buy in to safe systems of work. Safety culture is a combination of the attitudes, values and perceptions that influence how something is actually done in the workplace, rather than how it should be done. Poor safety culture has contributed to many major incidents and personal injuries, and it can be just as influential on safety outcomes as an organisation s safety management system itself. Therefore, South Cumbria and North Lancashire District, and Manchester North West Branch, in association with South Cumbria Occupational Health and Safety Group (SCOHSG), are organising a one-day seminar that focuses on practical ways of working towards a proactive workplace safety culture. What s in it for you? This seminar will provide an opportunity to hear from leaders in the field of developing proactive workplace safety cultures, and it will give delegates the chance to discuss related issues with speakers and other delegates. There will also be a select group of exhibitors. Exhibition packages are available for part or all of the event, so if you re interested in these please Ben Pollard on ben.pollard@iosh.co.uk, who will be able to provide more information. You ll also have the opportunity to network with other delegates and speakers, plus anything you gain from this event can be included in your CPD portfolio. Who should attend? This event will be beneficial for: - safety professionals - managers and supervisors - union representatives - occupational health employees - safety trainers. About SCOHSG SCOHSG was founded in 1951 as a voluntary self-help safety and health forum to help organisations keep abreast of the latest safety and health legislation. In 1989, SCOHSG and the local IOSH district agreed to hold joint meetings as a more cost-effective way of helping members.
