1 Manager Communications Capability & Channels Communications Group, Shared Services Branch The Manager Communications Capability and Channels is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining the systems, frameworks, policies and processes required to enable the Communications Group and wider DIA to deliver effective and quality communications in support of achieving business outcomes. The role incorporates channels management, design and publishing management, performance reporting and communications capability development. 2 Channels Management Develop a communication channels strategy for the department including policies, processes and guidelines. Ensure the implementation and effective management of communications channels for the department that deliver lower cost to serve, and measurable outcomes for the business. Establish a governance framework to monitor channel performance and compliance with relevant communications policies and standards. Maintain knowledge of emerging trends and developments in communications channels assessing their suitability for DIA. Communications Capability Development Manage the development, implementation and maintenance of the necessary systems and tools to enable effective functioning of the communications operating model for DIA. Manage the development and implementation of initiatives to develop people and skills capability across DIA and within the Communications Group. Oversee the department s communications contingent capability workforce requirements including implementing frameworks and processes by which contingent capability is effectively managed and utilised for the benefit of the department. Brand, Design and Publishing Manage the department s brand and visual identity framework and ensure it is effectively maintained and managed by establishing appropriate brand standards, guidelines and governance arrangements. Manage the development and implementation of a publishing strategy and approach which delivers an effective and integrated suite of online and print publications. Manage the in-house design studio to deliver quality, cost effective and timely design services to the business. A coordinated, structured and disciplined approach to the development of communications channels across the Department. Effective strategic and operational management of DIA s communications channels to meet current and future business needs. The communications operating model is supported by the necessary systems and tools to enable success. Growth in communications capability across the business and within Communications and increased levels of self service. A structured, consistent and cost effective enterprise-wide approach to resourcing for temporary or variable demand for communications services and capability. A coordinated, structured and disciplined approach to the development and management of publications across the Department. A well-managed, skilled and high performing in-house design function. A strong and robust approach to brand management with clearly communicated and understood expectations, standards and guidelines around brand and visual identity. 3 Performance Reporting Manage the development and implementation of a performance measurement framework for the Communications Group that enables reporting on the Group s contribution to enterprise performance. Manage the development and delivery of internal metrics and reporting to deliver insights into the effectiveness of communications channels and activities and to inform future strategy development. Group Leadership Actively work with the Director Communications and the Communications leadership team to champion and promote the Vision, Strategy and Operating Model for the Communications Group. Proactively contribute to the development, implementation and achievement of both the Communication Group s and SSB s strategic objectives, priorities and business plans. Actively participate as a member of the Communications Leadership team taking a whole of communications view and providing leadership to the wider Communications Group. Actively participate as a member of the wider Shared Services Branch leadership team, promoting and demonstrating a joined-up approach to the delivery of shared services. visual identity. People Management Demonstrate leadership support for all Departmental initiatives and organisational development activities, modelling expected behaviours to managers and staff to create a desired workplace culture. Undertake regular DIA culture and engagement activities with the team. Recruit, lead and manage people in line with HR guidelines and the Senior Leader profile of the DIA Capability Framework. Lead the team and provide effective coaching and development opportunities to build and maintain the team s capability to meet current and future communications needs and requirements.
