2 Collections and Licensing Specialist Responsible to: Accountable to: Responsible for: Digital Resources and Collections Manager Head of Library and Learning Services Information Assistants Overall Purpose To manage the procurement, acquisition and preservation of resources (both physical and electronic), including negotiating licence requirements and ensuring clarity around licence terms. The role holder will be responsible for the provision of document delivery, digitisation, reading list services and special collections and will co-ordinate and manage collection development projects. Principal Duties and Responsibilities To lead the team acquiring learning resources, including keeping abreast of licence and subscription renewals, and updating the lectronic Resource Management System. To liaise with a range of suppliers and subscription agents with regards day-to-day activities, such as prices, and licences and future developments. To administer the department s library resources budget. To manage the department s digitisation, document delivery and reading list services. To monitor trends in acquisitions management and to work to incorporate this knowledge, with other staff, to develop and improve LLS services. To assist in negotiating with suppliers to obtain value for money, ensuring compatibility with existing systems and technology, and ensuring clarity around licence terms. To manage and motivate the Information Assistants, including the development of projects to create impact within the Collections area of the service. To assist in induction for new staff, assessing training needs, and undertaking appraisal processes for Information Assistants. To deputise as appropriate for the Digital Resources and Collections Manager. To represent the department and liaise with teams across the institution, maintaining appropriate networks in relation to the acquisition and licensing of resources. To develop a network of peers in the H sector and elsewhere, for mutual benefit and support. Page 1

Generic Duties and Responsibilities The post holder will be expected to undertake other responsibilities and tasks as reasonably requested by the Head of Library and Learning Services. The post holder will be responsible and accountable for ensuring all employment legislative requirements are adhered to including equality and diversity and health and safety issues. 6 Terms and Conditions of mployment Job Title: Duration: Hours: Salary: Work Base: Pension: Holidays: Collections and Licensing Specialist Substantive Full Time Grade 6 : 27,025-33,199 per annum Waterside Campus or any of The University of Northampton premises as required ligible to join the Local Government Pension Pro rata 23 days per annum plus 5 days after 5 years continuous service plus Bank Holidays and Closed days. Notice period: 1 month Probationary period: 6 months Additional Points to Note Applicants are required to provide two referees who can give an opinion on academic and/or professional work experience. Successful applicants are required to provide any stated/required qualifications and evidence of any memberships to professional bodies.
