This is a hugely exciting time for our Multi Academy Trust and we are looking to appoint a dynamic, inspirational and experienced HR Manager to play a key role in the next phase of our development. The successful candidate must be a driven practitioner who can lead by example and inspire others whilst providing challenge and rigour to the HR function of the Multi Academy Trust. 3 Ted Wragg Multi Academy Trust Professor Ted Wragg, in whose memory the Ted Wragg Trust is named, was passionate about education in general, and in Exeter in particular, and about how education can transform young people s futures. The Ted Wragg Multi Academy Trust currently has four school members, Isca Academy, St James School, the Cranbrook Education Campus and Exwick Heights. 4 Job Description Job Title: HR Manager Location: TWMAT Central Services Responsible To: Chief Operating Officer Salary Grade: Grade H - ( 35,093-38,789) Key Purpose of Job 1. To manage the delivery of a compliant, professional HR service for the Trust. 2. Ensure that the Trust is operating within a legally robust HR policy and procedural framework, that is fit for purpose. 3. To provide robust professional advice and clear recommendations for action in all aspects of HR policy and practice. Anticipated Outcomes of Post 1.1. A responsive, effective, professional and compliant HR service which has been fully embedded across the Trust. List Key Duties and accountabilities of the post 1. Lead on the provision of support and advice to the Trust on HR related issues as required, including providing professional developmental support to senior and middle leaders and HR administrators in schools, in all aspects of HR including the application of Trust policies. 2. Lead on casework, restructures and employee relations and support on behalf of the Trust, liaising with legal advisors and trade unions as appropriate. 3. Provide an external HR Service to other third partners in order to generate income for the Trust. 4. Ensure that relevant legislative and educational employment knowledge is kept up to date within the Trust, advising on the interpretation and implementation of changes to ensure that all policies and procedures are up to date and legally compliant. 5. Develop and ensure the appropriate consistent delivery of HR policy, systems and processes across the Trust, such as Recruitment, Induction, probation, performance management and sickness absence etc. 6. Manage HR MAT documentation including staff contracts, policies and procedures and forms etc. ensuring that they are regularly reviewed and updated and compliant with employment legislation and safer recruitment etc 7. Ensure that the Trust is compliant with equality legislation, in terms of arrangements for pay and conditions across the Trust, giving professional recommendations and implementing action plans to address any inconsistencies of approach. 8. Provide HR support for the process of schools joining the Trust. 9. Ensure that HR record keeping including the Single Central Record is accurate and compliant across the Trust. 10. Lead on the management of the Apprenticeship Levy.

5 1. Supervision / Line Management Responsibilities of the post 1. Whilst the post holder does not currently have any line management responsibilities, the postholder is required to lead on working with the HR administrators in each of the schools, who will be required to work within the HR framework that is set up by the post holder. 2. It is envisaged that the HR service for the Trust will develop over time as the Trust grows and the HR service to other third parties develops, which may require the service to expand requiring a centralised HR team, which the post holder will line manage. 2. Working Environment & Conditions of the post 2.1. In support of the Trust s vision and ethos of shared teaching and learning to improve educational outcomes for young people, the post may be required to travel and work within any school in the Ted Wragg Multi Academy Trust. 3. Other Duties 5.1 To undertake additional duties as required, commensurate with the level of the job. 5.2 To participate in induction training, staff review processes and professional development opportunities 4. Other Duties a) All staff must commit to Equal Opportunities and Anti-Discriminatory Practice. b) The Trust operates a Smoke-Free Policy and the post-holder is prohibited from smoking in any of the Trust buildings, enclosed spaces within the curtilage of buildings, and Trust vehicles. c) The post-holder will be expected to have an agreed working pattern to ensure that all relevant functions are fulfilled through direct dialogue with employees, members of other agencies and community members. d) The post-holder is expected to familiarise themselves with and adhere to all relevant Trust and School Policies and Procedures. e) The post-holder must comply with the Trust s Health and Safety requirements specifically for the school they are working at f) This post is based at [Isca Academy] but the post holder may be required to move their base to any other location within the Trust upon request g) The duties of this post may vary from time to time without changing the general character of the post or level of responsibility entailed. As this post meets the requirements in respect of exempted questions under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, all applicants who are offered employment will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check (DBS) before the appointment is confirmed. This will include details of ALL cautions, reprimands or final warnings as well as convictions, whether spent or unspent. Criminal convictions will only be taken into account when they are relevant to the post
